Really, wtf is the big deal then?
I think its more the fact that they are sounds that dont belong. I don't like the fact that my car which I spend alot of time and money on sounds like a Kia at idle.

I first noticed it yesterday when at the drive-thru Walgreens pharmacy.

If yours just started, it'll get louder in a week or two. Then it'll bother you. Or maybe not.

Edit: Ours sounded like a bad water pump it was so bad.

The crickets kill me and I've had people ask what is wrong with my car at drive throughs and once at a traffic light. I'm on my 3rd fuel pump from the dealer.

There was a thread going on about the dealer sending out a recall due to the noise. I never received anything but was also told you can talk to the dealer about the recall and they should know about it.

Well, hopefully mine won't get that bad. If it does, I will be taking it in for the TSB (if there is one for Subaru. I know Toyota usually gets its TSBs out well before Subaru for the same exact issues).

Tucson Subaru is very familiar with the issue and has been great at replacing my pump. They haven't seen a permanent fix though.

Have you done much to your car? I'm trying to get a feel for how picky they would be for warranty repairs if they see small things like a new air intake hose or aftermarket exhaust.

Not trying to get away with anything, just trying to prevent myself from getting screwed in the event something is wrong with my car.

Unless it's mods to the fuel system, they shouldn't get pissy about it.

Yup, they shouldn't. Just hoping they're not like the dealerships I hear stories about. They've been great to me so far but I haven't really gone to them with any problems with the car yet.
