mMmMmm E85

With my OFT E85 tune coming soon, does anyone have any recommendations on a reliable E85 pump here in the East Valley? I've read a few threads of some shady places trying to pass off E70 as E85.

It's winter blend vs summer blend. There is a government schedule when the supply chain is supposed to change over. Makes for cold starting better that's for sure. They switched over a while ago. I have not been able to get my tank over e73. Nothing shady going on. E70 winter e85 summer.

I am selling them at cost please contact me for pricing but its lower than the 495 they are quoted at and the more people we get the lower it goes. The only catch is they will be shipped to me so you have to come see me to pick them up. (I know it's horrible lol)

This is for a Brand New fully warrantied OFT from Vishnu. Everything you need to get started, E85 is now available as is Data Logging. If you want to do Shiv's remote tuning that's an additional cost but I can see if I can get a deal on that, however if you are N/A you will be more than happy with the Stage 1 & 2, 91 and E85 files already out. I will be providing updates for certain items (aka specific Air Intakes) as time goes on and I help tune other's vehicles.
Stage 1 = Stock Header and 1 Cat Removed with Cat back and other minor bolt ons
Stage 2 = No Cats and Full Bot On's Including Header

I want to order this week so if you want to jump in let me know right now we have 4 so far.

Ahh that makes sense. Does anyone have insight if running an E85 tune on E70 winter blend will cause any issues?

On a boosted car for max effort maybe, but most tuners know that E85 is not always E85 it varies at times. For N/A you will be fine.

If you wanted the max out of the tune you can make a winter tune and a summer tune. But the difference is will pretty small on na.

It's also not huge on FI either.

I was talking about E85 with STI guys and they get a summer E85 tune and call it good. The E70 winter blend will only give low performance decreases on the summer blend tune and will only be richer, not leaner so the car is still safe.

Means, for E85, get tuned for it when the summer blend is available and make that your year-round tune. When it goes to richer blends, you'll just run richer and it won't be so much richer that you risk bore wash.

Edit:

Changing topics: I'm waiting here at work, trying to get work done but constantly watching my phone waiting for Gerber to call! If everything went well, I'm supposed to get my BRZ back today!

Pics will be forth coming with a comparison to the crash damage. I hope they got the paint right!

Here's what needed to be fixed:

Rear bumper cover replaced
Trunk lid repaired (it had been scuffed)
Rear support braces for the bumper repaired or replaced (basically all the stuff before the rear frame that supports the bumper)
Stock axleback replaced (muffler had become dented in the collision)

Repair total: about $3k
My out of pocket cost: $50 security deposit with Enterprise, and waived $1k deductible from USAA

I want my baby back (baby back, baby back.... BBQ sauce )

I10 is t he only pumps close to you. Most pumps are central / scottsdale. There is nothing in the E valley. And you need to remember its E85 by volume, and not always gauranteed. I would see pumps ranging 77-85% in the summer, winter was 70-75 when I was still running it.

Ask your tuner, it depends on the fuel trim allowances & ignition timing. 15% ethanol drop is not a huge deal, but can be. You only loose upwards of maybe 5 octane or so on a winter blend. If the tune was very very aggressive or poorly tested against mbt its possible to have problems. As always, ask your tuner his recommendation. Some tuners have two maps one for winter, one for sumer. Some will say that the trims will take care of it and that they set the ignition a little less aggressive.

A friend had a car brought into his shop recently that blew up after the owner switched from E85 to E10 (pump 91 octane) and blew up shortly after filling up. When they pulled fuel sample it was tested something like 25-29% or so, I forget exactly which but basically around 15% ethanol increase. This was on a boosted engine though. E85 just doesn't knock as easily as gasoline does so the ecu doesn't degrade its sell the same way it would with a bad tank of pump gas. This is why its best to get your tank really low on tuned applications. Just so you know the fuel level goes a fair bit past the E line :P. I wouldn't be as worried on switching NA though, boost is a whole different game.
