For wider track I was talking about the 25mm spacers I have installed (not wider wheels). I assumed that this would put the inside of the wheels farther apart thereby creating a wider track.

I've put in 25mm spaces with my 18x7.5" +46 wheels for the flush look but was wondering if I'd notice any difference at my next track day.

My second question was about 9" wide wheels rather than 7.5" wheels (not track width). I am more asking about if I'd notice the extra resistance of wider wheels and/or whether the extra grip would be detrimental given I am a very amateur track driver ?
By the time the effects of a wider track are readily apparant to you, you'll know how you want to change it (if at all).

The wider track changes the ratio between wheelbase and track, and theoretically makes the car more likely to rotate, slightly. However, it also changes the motion ratio in the back, so to maintain the same spring rate balanace, you'd need a slightly higher net spring rate in the rear. The net effect is that unless you REALLY alter the track, you actually make the car more stable, with no other changes.

With the same with tires on different wheels, you'll notice better response and slightly better grip. Given that the TWS wheels are lighter than your current wheels, you'll probably have slightly better all around performance (less unsprung weight, less rotational inertia), but the straightline speeds will be the most noticeable change.

This is actually a really good comparison:

Now if we could just get one of those raging L6 engines in there (Maybe that will happen with the Toyota/BMW joint venture)
I think he was referring to the "Silvia" 240sx. I tend to agree. Much more like the 240 than the ae86.

Great read, thanks. Unfortunately, it is not a comparison to the E36.

Oops...I meant to post it in the "how fast is the GT86 on the track" thread.

And yes...I meant 240sx, Not 240z and not other Zs (those are 6cylinder so not similar..and the newer 300-370 Zs are much heavier).

Tire squeal on straight line braking normal? Does it mean im braking too hard/not smooth or something? I don't feel abs.

I induce squeal on the 225/45-17 PSS on stock pads and fluid. It's just threshold breaking. Normal as far as I understand it. If you get past a little squeal, you may get the ABS pulse. I got pulse after several laps and faded the pads.

As far as if it's too hard, I would say no, unless you go four-off.

Slight noises? Yes. If it's ongoing, then it's probably ABS. ABS on modern cars is VERY good...

In all reality, ,pderm ABS will probably perform threshold braking better than most people can, myself included, but the penalty is that it cooks brakes really quickly.

I have stock suspension with 245/40r17 PSS on 17x9 +35 rpf1, stock crash bolt + SPC camber bolts

I've recently installed whiteline sway bars (20mm front fixed, 18mm rear adjustable, in middle setting )
I feel like the car doesn't turn in as nice as it did before with stock sway bars (plows unless I trail brake and keep weight on the front tires)

Is this how a "well set up" car should be?
Should I adjust my driving or take off the bars?

I'd recommend you go back to stock for now. Once you get some more seat time, you can put them back on and experiment.

My first 3 cars didn't have abs. Locking up a wheel wasn't uncommon, it was just part of the fun. Now, I haven't driven a non abs car in a very long time. I still occasionally trigger the abs on track (not often or for long). Would pulling the fuse on the abs be a worth while exercise for track work. Would doing this teach me anything of value?

If you're used to it, probably not.

Pretty sure you lose power brakes when you pull the fuse. Your car might also go into limp mode.
