It's hard to answer that one without either sounding arrogant or clueless...

But seriously, yes, that's about what I was expecting. There's no major bottlenecks in the hardware, and I'll never claim the turbo was being worked hard at 6psi. I expect that @nix will hit the limits of the current exhaust housing on the turbo at 16~18psi, though it may stretch a bit further due to the e70~e85.

The turbo, as mentioned before, is a hybrid 18g. That's a turbo 2.5-liter WRX's and STI's upgrade to from the stock turbocharger. Key to the performance was simply sizing the hotside for the smaller motor so response didn't suffer while keeping that power going till 7K. The trade-off is that it likely won't breath that well above 8000rpm, that'll require a bigger hotside.

Our head engineer Terry has been turbocharging n/a's for 39+ years, he's pretty damned good at building out the right turbo for an application.

Finally got our new clutches, pressure plates, and flywheels in for the FR-S and BRZ. We have organic and 9-button ceramic with full metal back, so no annoying clutch chatter to live with. A big plus is they are still quite driveable in traffic. Even bigger plus is they'll take torque!

A big thanks to @Drift-Office for installing the clutch for me, because I'm a lazy ponce (and I was taking photos)

Transmission came out fairly quick. If there was less work at the top, it'd go even quicker!

And then out came the OEM flywheel.

OEM flywheel is about 20.6lbs, and ours is 15.5lbs. We went a little heavier to ensure that it is still easy to drive in stop/go traffic.

And on goes the Ceramic clutch, a 9-button unit that should be good for 350~400ft/lbs of torque.

And then the AVO pressure plate. It's about 60% stronger than the OEM pressure plate.

The OEM clutch and pressure plate were actually in quite good shape. So my issues with the clutch letting go above 9+psi was just the limitations of the clutch/pressure plate.

Overall, the install takes about 3 hours at the shop. It will take a bit longer if you DIY, and it really helps to have two pair of hands to lift the transmission in/out. I'm still bedding it in. It does grab quicker than the stock, but not so much that I cannot modulate it. Going between gears is easier with the lighter flywheel. I'll keep you all updated as it beds in, and we should be able to go for more power now on the AVO FR-S.

the spring retainers on that plate look really good, does your organic plate use the same center?

It's nearly the same - just checked it. I'll post a photo of the organic, just a minute. New throw-out bearing as well, of course.

Organic clutch/pressure plate and throwout bearing is $880 MSRP, the ceramic is $1100.00 MSRP. Flywheels are $550.00. I've got one set of the organic in stock, will have to get more of the ceramic sent over.

What are the specs for the organic clutch?
When I do decide to upgrade, I want to get the best bang for the buck. I'm fairly new to manual related stuff lol

I basically have that plate, flywheel and organic disc and its great, very much oem feel and nvh.

You do want to increase your idle if you go with the flywheel. It's not necessary but with AC on it will idle hunt and sometimes some nvh when the idle dips.

Th problem with the organic discs, besides faster wear is their heat ceiling on operating temps, they can handle bursts of up to 300c/570f but should be at more like 150/300. For harder driving the ceramic option will perform better but will bring a bit of nvh/shudder.

Paul, I thought I might have been able to catch you at the shop this afternoon, but you were already gone. I did find a box of parts waiting to be installed on mine...

any plans for releasing a upgraded turbo that will fit the stage 1/2 configuration without modifications, in case we want 400whp ?

Is the pilot bearing incorporated in the flywheel?
