Talking CHP are Awesome People

The last time I was pulled over, I was going way, way over the limit on the way to Socal in my then new-to-me BMW 550i. I was going fast enough to go to jail. Seriously. So the CHP sees me the same time I see him. I immediately slow down and let him hop in his car then catch up. He pulls me over and gives me a fixit ticket for the expired tag sticker I forgot to put on and tells me to slow down because other people are stupid and will get in my way. Oh yeah, and my car is nice.

Today, I'm on Palomares Road going too fast as usual. Motorcycle CHP comes in the opposite direction. He waves at me to slow down. He drives on.

People call CHP ****s, but I haven't met a rude one in over a decade.

Or obligatory implication that cops are racist.

I've never felt persecuted but then again, most of us are in a privileged demographic.

Seriously, SLOW DOWN and DRIVE SAFELY. How would you feel if I was speeding and I hit/injured YOUR Mom or Dad? Its not worth it, DONT speed.

Let me start off by saying "I agree, Drive Safely".

Now, for my too funny to pass up saying answer: "About the same as if you hit/injured my Mom or Dad and you weren't speeding."

Speeding is fine unless you're running rampant. Some CHP officers are nice, some are douches. Op got lucky

You're operating under the logical fallacy that speed is the only factor contributing to safety, or a lack thereof. Going 120 on the freeway in a McLaren 12C is probably just as safe or unsafe as going 65 in a rusty '91 Cavalier, if all other things are equal.

Another huge factor is road conditions. Can't judge whether or not something is safe with such limited information.

if it says 70mph, go 75. done, no one dies, no one is scared of getting a ticket, and CHP don't have to worry about you

I did have an accident about a year ago. At night, I ran over a tree lying across the road because an oncoming driver had his brights on and blinded me as I rounded a corner. I was going the limit. Pretty much everyone speeds most of the time, but going the limit at that time did nothing for me.
