As an avid supporter, fan, and owner of 1g and 2g eclipses, the dropping of the turbo and awd was a complete kick to the balls by Mitsubishi. To make things worse, they released a neutered junker in its place. Additionally, they brought part of the drive train back in the EVO but couldn't put it into an Eclipse?
I will never touch a Mitsubishi again for the crap they pulled at the start of 2000. Nobody drove an eclipse for the best mileage or the best reliability, they drove it for the character and the fire breathing performance. Once those to things were gone, Mitsu had slit it's own throat. Mitsubishi, may you continue your slow descent into hell and economic disparity for what you did to the Eclipse line. You deserve every ball kicking you get. PS, the original intention for the lump in the hood was to make room for the DOHC Gears. They were quite large on that motor. |

No surprise on the Eclipse. Mitsubishi completely murdered that car over the years.

Over the past 10 years the Eclipse has only gone downhill. The 1st and 2nd gen. DSMs were awesome cars and had several trims available to appeal to different buyers. fwd n/a, fwd turbo, awd turbo. The 3rd gen. Eclipse was disgusting... and they got rid of all turbo models and put in a v6 instead - no more awd as well. The 4th gen was the same deal but it looks like a balloon. Those things are so fat and massive! I see them all the time here in Mississippi with red dirt all over them - disgusting... they look incredibly trashy.
I wish the 3000GT would come back. |

Mitsubishi has been failing in auto industry, some reason they been doing it all wrong..
Even if the Evo is a beautiful car and some of the best tech iv played around with.. the rest of their line up is undesirable. I wouldn't recommend their ecos, or their suvs, or their sedans..ect... to anyone. Give us a Gallant that Rivals Legacy Give us an affordable compact car, hell bring back the FTO Give us something! that makes it seem like you care about us..and your not just pumping out vehicles just for profit.

So their profits are marginal in the consumer market vs the profits they make in research/supply for corporations and businesses.

The Conquest/Starion were fun cars to drive. Also the Galant VR4. And the EVO can be.
Other than that Mitsubishi never created anything I liked. (at least based on what was sold in this country)

Mitsubishi is really successful in Asia. They fail in the US and Europe though.

I would love it if they bring back the FTO. Even though it was FWD it could bring some competition. It did compete with the Celica.

I thought they were going to make the evolution a hybrid vehicle. Pretty sure about this statement.

So now the rumors are that a future Evo will feature hybrid technology. Based on what we know that's the most logical conclusion we can come up with. But we really don't know what the plans are for the Evo. Chances are we wont see any information in that regard for another year or two.
