normal driving, usually around 3.5k. If I'm having to go from 2nd to 6th (90 degree right onto highway) I go all the way to 7k in 2nd then shift from 3rd to 5th, then 6th to settle in. If you ever get the chance shifting from 6th to 4th on the highway is the most fun way to get a speeding ticket ever....you can't not wind it out.

You can tell this because the valves begin to float and not close completely so the engine gets kind of quiet for a fraction of a second, that's how you know when to shift for maximum performance!
But really, just when it seems right, probably 3,000-4,000 most of the time, although with the engine deadspot I tend to go more 4,000 plus. ANd of course at redline because it is more fun. |

Between 3-4 1/2 for me. I get about 29-32 mpg which is a nice tradeoff for higher revs

I bounce the rev limiter at every shift and cruise at 6000rpms because I am really Ken Block behind the wheel FTW!
Scott J/K. I'm old and drive an automatic which, according to some around here, means I can't drive and the disconnect to my car means I will inevitably crash it if I try to drive like the "experts" around here.

All depends on traffic. No one on the road, 4.5K. Need to get ahead of traffic, 6.5K and up. Stuck behind a slowpoke, 2.5K. Getting on the highway, Redline.

Drop from 6th to 4th. If you REALLY need the power you can actually drop into 3rd if you're going right around 60 but if you're going 70 4th is best. The process is put in clutch, press on the gas so it revs around 5.5k or so and then move over into 4th. Quickly let the clutch out before the revs fall and keep on the gas to maintain the revs. It's a super quick shift and the quick rev is necessary to make you not lurch as much as the clutch re-engages. If you have an intake/exhaust it sounds godly too. It's fun to experiment with downshifting and upshifting. If you can start to learn where the rpm's are at each mph, you can downshift and upshift much easier while being an overall smoother driver too. Hope I helped.
