Does it still count as a "race" if they don't acknowledge your existence?

Even better if they don't or wait to pass them going 50MPH while they in a 35MPH speed zone.

Nope. Put it in neutral. I don't like the idea of putting wear on my throwout bearing unnecessarily.

Neutual, my leg starts to cramp up if I hold it in for more than just shifting gears.

To save wear on the clutch slave bearing and pressure plates, you do want to relieve the pressure by putting it in neutral and releasing the clutch if you need to be waiting at stop lights or any duration of time.

But it's pretty much something you can just think about, and try to do. It's not a huge issue if it wears on a stock clutch on a stock FRS as it will easily last till you run out of clutch in most cases.

However it is a good habit, as a performance car driver to do so, as some of the exotic clutch packages for high end racing equipment does get affected, like those on a twin-plates and triple plates with floating pressure plates. This is IF you plan on being an enthisast for a long time and you want to drive things like D1 Spec Skyline ER34, and HKS Drag R32, Top Secret's JZA80 and Amemiya's Super Endurance FD3S RX7....

Twenty plus manual transmission cars in 50 years and I've never put the car in neutral, always stayed in gear with the clutch in at traffic lights. Never replaced a clutch or TOB. Different story if caught in dead-stop traffic or for any long period of time like at RR crossings.

I do both, depending on circumstances (traffic, duration of time, etc.).

Neutral, but that's more a habit from my Honda CR-Z w/ manual (auto engine off if vehicle is stopped and in neutral).

If I am the first guy at the line then I put in N, clutch out and hold the brake pedal.
If I am the 2nd/3rd in row, then rest all my foot and put the handbrake in. There is always delay from people in front of you.
