That was Nameless. You can find the thread in the exhaust forum

I know its been said before, but i'm trying to figure out what this "torque dip" is. Is it like being in a high gear in a low RPM in a turbo engine and it's bogging to get power?

It looks like its some kind of resonation in the stock headers perhaps. Nameless and P&L both unveiled their headers recently and both get rid of the dip pretty much.

They are still in the development stages though but you can find their threads in the technically topics -> engine/exhaust/ecu section

I wish that it wouldn't cost the price of a full exhaust system to get a nice set of headers.

I've experienced this only twice that I can recall and both times were in situations when I was trying to accelerate while already at a cruising speed in 4th or 5th gear...the car bogs down around 4,000 RPM. I attribute this more to my getting used to driving the car than a real issue with the car's performance.

If you keep it in 5500-6500 and higher range, there is plenty of pull to get you going very fast. The trick is to plan ahead and keep the engine revving high...or in my examples, a downshift would helped greatly.

You say that but you are posting numbers from a Dynojet.
I'm sorry, I couldn't resist.
Excellent work on the tur-bo kit.

Yeah, in my turbo car. When I'm at Rev's under 3K and I try to put throttle, it won't really move (especially in a high gear like 4th). I naturally downshift to move the rpms into a powerband and go.

Is this similar to the torque dip? I'm actually very curious if the torque dip is felt from 1st gear, WOT to 5th gear. or is it only under conditions of cruising speed at 3rd/4th gear?

The torque dip isn't the same as turbo lag. the torque is constant value at WOT that the engine produces.

See the dip between 3500 and 4500? While the engine is in the rev range, you will output 180 kg*m of torque instead of 200. It doesn't mean that the engine bogs, only that it accelerates more slowly than when the torque curve is flat from 4500-7000 producing 200 kg*m of torque.
