Thanks for the heads up guys but I'm not exactly trying to do this the easy or cheap way

Just use the OEM switches but those are higher quality than the OEM suby stuff for sure. That site provides a lot of OEM manufacturers.

Yes, rostra is the oe supplier for most factory option heated seats. The point of them is not they are easy and cheap but that they work better while saving money and time trying to chase random factory parts. I'm going with the dual switch model!

FWIW -

Just as a heads up, my 2013 Subaru BRZ Limited Passenger Heater Switch is broken. I literally flipped it about 5-7 times this morning for the first time and it became soft/unresponsive. I found this post and it helped. I also did a shitload of searching to find out these switches are made by Nissan and can be found on Ebay. I just spent $25 on a replacement switch. Average cost is about $25-$28 used or $50 shipped new. Ouch. The stock switches IMO are not high quality.

Oh, and compared to other cars I've owned, the seat heaters in this car are 'decent' only if the thermostat (any chance you know where it is located?) stays on longer than it does not.

And another BTW - I tried the drivers heat seater last week for the first time, was hot for some time, then smelled something burning, and then it got cold. Now, for some reason it doesn't seem to get as hot as it used to and definitely not as long. I sat in the passenger seat this morning and it took a long time to get hot, and then the damn switch broke.

Ugh!

If you're dead set on doing it, I would suggest buying the components and taking the seats and the parts to a shop that specializes in automotive upholstery to have them install everything correctly. The last thing you want to do is struggle with removing a seat skin only to rip something, break something, have something bunch up, move, etc. It's a pain in the ass, and would be worth the cost to have a professional do it for you.

I thought they were shit. Then two weeks of continued use broke something in and now they are good.

How did it end up turning out? Are you happy with the result? Are there no additional parts besides the heating elements and switches?

I'm installing JDM leather/alcantara covers in my car and if your install went well I was going to duplicate

If past (Subaru) history applies to this car, none of the wiring for the seat heaters are there. You'll have to fab up all the wiring.

Yea i looked at the wiring diagrams and the wiring harnesses are definitely not modular. Getting heated seats or the fual climate controls would be a huge electrical maze to wire up from scratch.

Though building a custom harness should be possible, the question is where can we get the ends without spending $800 on a new harness.

So if you want heated seats, auto climate control, HID, keyless start, alcantara, it's more expensive to retrofit these parts on top of a fr-s than it would be to buy badges and a front bumper for a BRZ
