Rear Ended

tonight my FR-S got to meet a typical bad Californian driver

only real damage is the license plate imprint into it. At least that i can tell. Alignment dont seem to be off at all. no bags deployed or anything and no cel lights.

Anything specific i should be asking for them to check into or does the auto body shop the ins picks do a run through of everything or what. I have no idea what to expect with this whole process as ive never been rear ended before.

I was able to brace for the impact but didnt have time to alert my wife and now her lower back is sore. i hope its not serious but going to get it all checked out.

Could have been worse man. I've been rear ended in a civic hatch by a school bus going 45 mph. Good to see you are alright, and good luck to your wife.

Get an estimate and ask him to pay cash. Then it won't be on the cars record but a trained eye will still be able to tell.

If he doesn't want to pay cash then use his insurance and it will be recorded.

Shouldn't be a problem for the car if you keep all receipts and pictures, the damage is so minimal.

from the angle of the shot,it looks like the plastic is uneven to to the body.
maybe an alignment issue? get it checked!

It will show that there was an accident but if you go to a certified body shop for toyota then you will not lose value! Trust me in the same boat bt i had something hit the front bumper on the highway and will cost about 1500 to fix! But getting it done by a certified toyota shop

I'd get it done by a shop so you can be sure everything is fixed correctly. Glad to hear no one got hurt and there isn't any BS/Drama with getting it fixed.

Your body shop will write an estimate on those things that are visibly damaged. They do not go thru the car and check each and every system to make sure it functions properly. As repairs progress and should they discover additional damage previously overlooked they will contact the person paying for repairs to get approval of a supplement.

You're very fortunate it didn't do much damage. My wife's car was rear ended about a year ago and it cost almost $18K to repair! Obviously we didn't pay for it, but it took 2 months for the repair.
