Even if you're stopped, when the turd behind you hits you, you are suddenly no longer stopped, then you hit the car in front and you are suddenly stopped. The accelerometers see both of these as a sudden acceleration and should have deployed the airbag. Glad you're ok though!

The suspension is a little different (stiffer I think), it's got HIDS, it's got heated seats, keyless start, integrated alarm, nicer seats, nicer head unit, and a Tom Sellick moustache. Oh and I hear the digital clock is a different color. We can't tell you whether it's worth it; that's a very personal decision, but just ask yourself this: is that worth the extra $3-4k to you?

Airbags works by sensors. If "x" amount of sensors activate, the bag blows. If 1 less than "x" activates, no bag.

It has nothing to do with the motion of the vehicle, think about it. That would be absurd if they only worked when your car was moving.

Idk that's just what I was told and it would explain why the airbags didn't go off.

I think it's more about where the front end damage happened. He basically "under-rode" the car in front and peeled back above the bumper. Obviously it simply missed the sensors.

Ya that's probably it. The styrofoam in the bumper was barely disturbed so that would make sense.

Exactly, or not necessarily missed, just didn't activate enough of them at once. 2/5 perhaps instead of 3/5 needed for example. The fact that he was uninjured also suggests it worked as designed by limiting the repair bill by not having extra bags deployed for no reason. The bags could have put him in total territory considering how many of you were surprised it wasn't.

Well, apparently the collision was "really busy today" so they weren't able to give me my answer. They have had the car at the shop for 3 full days. I don't know how hard it is to determine if a car is totaled, but this is starting to get ridiculous.
