This is my 4th Subi and I do consider it one. I have to say though, I don't think the majority of other Subi owners think so. Rarely get any acknowledgment from the WRX/STI crowd where I always got a thumbs up in the previous cars. May because mine is a SWP it's hard to spot at a distance compared to WRB.

Same here. I have waved at many other Subie owners and I get nothing back. Only one car so far has waved, and he actually followed me off the highway to tell me my car was nice haha.

Its kind of annoying...I know its stupid but the one thing I loved about driving my old STi was the community and how everyone was so friendly. Now its like i'm an outsider, and it irks me a bit. Everyone is still real cool though at meets. We are like the redheaded stepchild of the Subaru family lol.

@diirk, @xxscaxx,

At most car meets or shows I've been to I've noticed most owners or hardcore fans of the WRX/STi's aren't as receptive but are slowly accepting the BRZ. They'll still poke fun at it and all for it not being AWD, but I see it as jealousy.

Yeah, you both have it right. At the track it's all good, but around town, not so much. But to be fair, my BRZ doesn't stand out nearly as much as any of my previous cars.

But, you also see it on the forums. NASIOC has one little section for BRZ's and I don't recall seeing any BRZ related posts on SoCalSubys.

The only thing against it is that it looks too good to fit in with other Subarus, but most Subaru owners will admit their car has quirky character rather timeless good looks. Some people try to convince themselves that their Subaru isn't ugly, and the overly insecure may try to poke at you. Ignore them. They have no taste.

Disclaimer: I have spent many $$$$ on ugly Subarus. Don't get your panties in a bunch if you've convinced yourself your Impreza looks good. They have other redeeming qualities.
So true. I went on a Subaru cruise and they kept joking with me about how slow my car was and the lack of AWD (this was a cruise through the mountains during a snowstorm). While on the highway they were telling us to pass certain cars to stick together, of course they said "I don't know if the BRZ can handle it", and then driving in the snow they kept asking if I got stuck in the snow yet.

It was all in good fun, but I showed them that a 200HP RWD BRZ with snows can keep up with WRX's and STI's on snow covered mountain roads

I don't get acknowledged by many WRX/STI that I wave to around town, but that may be for other reasons. One did give me a LONG stare a few months ago, but that's about it. Cute girl in an R3 RX8 gave me a nod though!
