The 86 doesn't have variable lift (which is a shame bc I could easily see it making something like 240hp at 8000 rpm). I don't think the majority of DOHC engines today have variable lift either. Timing yes, lift no.

Out of the box, the S2000 is IMHO the better overall sports car.

BUT

Lets not forget how much more an S2K cost and what anyone could do with an extra $10k.

I think someone here said that the Civic Type R wouldn't beat an 86 at the track and only on straights? That's asinine. Regardless of the man's opinions, Type R's where handcrafted and specifically built for this, hence the higher price tag. When the BRZ STi or if Toyota decides to make a more potent FR-S trim then that's where the comparison would be, and seeing what we've seen from the "base" BRZ and FRS I really believe they would outperform the Honda's.

I'm amazed at all the people getting upset about this video. Why do you really care what is said about the BRZ/GT86/FRS? It's an opinion. Don't take it personally that someone else doesn't love your car as much as you do.

As for Spoon not making parts for the BRZ/GT86/FRS... Really? It's a honda tuning shop. I don't see any honda owners flipping out about TRD not making anything for their cars. BMW owners aren't flipping about about APR not making anything for their 3 series... It's how it is.

At the end of the day, It's a car. It's metal and paint. When someone says they don't like it, you shouldn't get all upset. Just shrug it off.

Price of FD2 Civic type R = roughly $32,000
Price of S2000 CR = roughly $37,000

I wanted a newer, fairly comfortable car yet fun to drive vehicle.
The reason why I went with FRS & BRZ.

type R? Honda s2000?
Yes. Much more sportier car than FRS&BRZ. For sure.
With absolutely unusable trunk space(s2k) with ride quality(type r)
that your girlfriend will hate you for.
Is that a bad thing? No. because it was meant to be a sports car.

bottom line = no need to be upset over this video.

as for great JDM parts? We have TODA.
If I wanted a true sports car? I would have went with Porsche. all day everyday.

ps - It is absolutely at Spoon's loss for not making parts for our vehicles. not ours.

don't get me wrong. I loved my previous Hondas. In fact I still do.

However, I want to ask this question to Mr. Spoon.
Name one sporty car that Honda produces as of right now.
CRZ? lol...
2012 civic si? my gawd. that thing was horrendous.
again. their loss. not ours.

What part did you not understand about spoon not making anything for any make but hondas? I don't see what loss there is for them. Last I checked there are still people driving Civics, integras, s2000's, and accords.

And I think you should actually drive a CRZ before you hate on it as well. You'll be fairly surprised.

lol in australia the S2000 was 75K in 2001 dollars. now in 2012 dollars the 86 GTS is 35K.

i think i can make up 50hp with the 86 for 35 grand.

How well does s2000 compared out of the box?
If 86 rev'ed over 8k rpm, it would probably be spoon approved

My friend is getting a set for his Clio Cup, will see what he thinks about them first. They are a little expensive right now (CDN dollar has fallen ~25 cents to the USD over the past year)
