Subaru bringing 2,000 More BRZs to the US.

Subaru of America will get 2,000 extra BRZs over the next four months as it tries to keep up with demand for the new coupe.

Quote:
LOS ANGELES -- Subaru of America will get 2,000 extra BRZs over the next four months as it tries to keep up with demand for the new coupe.

The Japan-built BRZ went on sale in April with about 500 units a month allocated for the United States this year. But demand has been greater than expected.

"We are selling all the BRZs we can get," said COO Tom Doll. "We have been sold out since the car was introduced."

Subaru of America initially asked for only 6,000 BRZs annually, and has sold 3,120 through October. Doll could not say whether the extra allocation will be extended through 2013.

The rear-wheel-drive BRZ was developed jointly with Toyota, which sells two sibling coupes, the Scion FR-S in the United States and the Toyota 86 in other markets.

Doll said Subaru also is asking parent Fuji Heavy Industries for more units of the XV Crosstrek, which was launched in September. Through October, 3,076 of the small crossovers have been sold in North America. Doll wants to bring monthly sales from about 2,000 to 2,500 units.

The XV Crosstrek has mainly attracted conquest buyers.

Doll said: "It is an eye-catcher and has been bringing younger and more style conscious buyers to the brand."

Seeing as how I've had my BRZ since May, I'd rather have less of them on the road. But that's selfish; for buyers who haven't gotten theirs yet this is a good thing.

I agree with this, but I guess it would be mean to wish no more would show up.

Maybe dealers will start slashing the price by $3K to adjust for market value the other way. Lol.

I'm hoping that this means the wait won't be so outrageous. I'm very split between buying a BRZ or an FRS and the wait after ordering one is a huge factor in my decision.

Invariably, this means less FRS will be sold. If I couldn't wait, I would have bought an FRS due to it's greater availability and the fact that every so often, there would be one at the Scion dealer I drive by regularly. I just decided to hold off because I wanted the keyless, the leather and the HID bad enough. None, I repeat, none of the Subaru dealers within a 100 mile radius around me even bothered returning my call for BRZ info and order updates.

Thanks to the CO>CA cartel thread, I was able to get my BRZ from Co.

Do you think this is a true statement or just something to encourage people to place orders on something they cant get yet? .... not saying to be a jerk or anything.

I work next to where they unload them in Richmond Ca, and as of last week there is about 30 spread out over the area.

This was announced in early October. It's real, but hardly 'news'.

Yet, they're still so scarce that whenever I spot one, I grin like it's the first one I've ever seen.
