Nice pics

Heres a video of it while not on the turntable. Allows for a good look from some good angles.

lol

Toyota Reps?

No, sorry but 90% of the attendees at Motorshows are hired "pretty girls" or college/university student males who got hooked up to get the job.

Even salesmen arent too many around over there, as they are busy at dealership making money.
Marketing people arent there either, they only really pop up at places or shows WHERE a new vehicle is to be announced.... 99% of vehicles at AIMS are known already or have appeared on other shows.

I'll tell you what is a bit disappointed about the FT-86II...
- 18 x 7 FR wheels, 18 x 7.5 RR wheels..... 1999 called, they want their staggered setup back, for a "70%" concept, thats disappointing.

The real worrying bit for me is, the RR wheels was about ~5-6mm under flush from inside the fender, which means, not much room to grow.
I'm thinking a 18 x 8 RR wheels will max it out.... the offset looks pretty high too.... I'm thinking +50mm.... so you get a +45mm 18 x 7.5 wheels... and the RR is FLUSH.... thats way too small for today's standards..

I'm not saying, they should do a 370Z staggered setup of 19x9 +47mm FR and 19x10 +30mm RR.... thats HUGE...

Basically, the FT-86 II looks to have same wheel size as S15s (off the factory)..... thats not a real BAD thing... because most people will buy bigger after market wheels..... BUT....and it s a BIG BUT.... the biggest wheel most people can fit on the RR is 8 inches wide..... It looks undersize to start with, the backside of the FT is quiet chunky, then you see these miniscule wheels holding it up.

So much for me, looking at VOLK, ENKEI etc wheels, as most of the wheels I've looked at are 18x8 +45mm FR and 18x9 +45mm RR.....

tis a bit disappointing..

I'm really really hoping, Toyota/Subaru have designed the RR fender to allow a wider track for enthusiasts/tuners..... it has to atleast accomodate 9 inch wide wheels!!!

1. This is literally the first time I've seen FR and RR to mean the front and rear set of wheels. Very confusing. That notation is sometimes acceptable in identifying individual wheels, i.e. order to bleed brakes where you're specifying a specific side and front/back, but no.

2. It's a show car. You can't judge things like the fender clearance from this to the final production. If it has the suspension the final version has (it doesn't), it's got custom larger wheels and perhaps spacers to get closer to the 'flush' look all the kids like these days.

3. On basically any car, but especially one as small and powerless at the FR-S will likely be, 18-19" rims are too big.

4. There are more than two sizes of wheels, especially when you're including offsets.

5. Track != wheel width.

6. 8" wheels can hold a lot of rubber, you don't need 9" wide wheels hardly ever. If you do really need 9" wheels, you'll be at the point that a little bit of bodywork is going to be a drop in the bucket.

I can fit 255's on the 8"wide stock rims on my 8, and that is on a car that has standard +50 tires. I can fit wider on the new +36 wheels I got now, as it moved the track in just the right amount that I won't need to roll the fenders, and it will still JUST miss the struts.
So if I can fit that on my car and you literally can't skid out after that, you won't need more on the much lighter 86

I fit 275/40/17 on an 8" wide wheel. And before someone says they wont be used well here are them being used kicking asphalt up. NT-05

yes, that's only a concept. they purposely size the track so the wheels appear flush. lets look back at the spy photos:

doesnt look anywhwere close to flush... and its not staggered...

Really? Because I'll take a pic to disprove that. The reason you see it thin in the pics is because you see the action of wall flex it's very much so bigger than 8". I said that to prove to can fit 275s on 8" wheel. Star Specs, RS3s doesn't matter it fits the same way as the NT05, I ran those too.

jesus h christ...

NT-05 vs Federal 595 RS-R both 255/40-17

its common knowledge that NT-05's run thinner for their size...

You show a pic of a set of tires unmounted, 1 used 1 new and next to each other. When you mount a tire it will widen out, perhaps the NT05 widens and the Federal stay static.

Though If I went off this pic for arguments sake, for these set of tires stacked, that is a very very small difference in size. 1 to 1 hardly noticeable. I don't get your point. 275 fits on a 8" wheel. A 255, which was the argument posts back with you and others was on an 8" wheel, so a 255 should fit better on 8" and should fit on 7.5 which kills the argument, so the Federals would fit on a 7.5 or 8" wheel. So WTF is your point?

*Cliffs
IF my 275 Nittos fit on a 8".. Federals will too even though possibly SLIGHTLY WIDER and if the argument was for 255 size on 7.5" or 8" then by no contest will a 255 fit no problem.

the point is that NT-05's run thin so your 275's are more like 255-265 on another tire. will it mount? sure. that's not the point. the point is that a 275 NT-05 is not the same as say a star spec 275. those run slightly wider and it may not be such a good idea to mount those on a 8 in rim. will it physically mount? yes, but will it give you the same performance than if it were mounted on a correctly sized wheel? that's the point.
