I understand that slammed cars aren't everyone's taste but some people do overreact about it. Hurr durr stretched tires are unsafe, slammed cars kill babies etc....

Airbags or cups. You air up and the car rises so you avoid the obstacles. Most cars ride while aired up and then drop for hard parking.

Feckin ricers with their big ass wings and scoops and shit. Those huge fenders for those bucket wheels re ridiculous. How does this douche get over speedbumps at that ride height?

Can't wait for this shit to end. What other people to do their cars is drastically ruining my quality of life.

It's a sexy beast though isn't it? I thought so too when I was 4 years old. Though at the time I didn't know how little it weighed or that it had a twin turbo v8 or how all those lines and panels made it so fantastically aerodynamic or what any of those things even mean. It looked cool, theoretical function be damned and ignored.

I grew up looking at framed pictures of an F40 and a Porsche 959 on my wall, peering at them through the mobile above my crib, or lit by a nightlight near my bed. They remained there till I was like 5 and my family moved to the states.

No one grew up with time attack Civics or spec Miatas on their walls. I'm sure an LS1 Miata on a diet with some boltons would rape an F40 so bad it'd relive it in its sleep, but your mom would still look at the Miata and not see the big deal.

The hellaflush kids are outrageous tuners (using the term loosely) and are going for the aesthetics of massive excess. They're probably influenced, like all race inspired cosmetic enhancements, by those wonderful exotics. It might be wide and low today, but it was wings and aero yesterday. Tomorrow it'll be scoops and loud exhausts. Hell it was probably all of that yesterday.

But It'll be like that until we start hanging pictures of Accords and Windstars on our kids' walls.

A lot of RX-8 owners ended up doing a "red-out" to their taillights. I never did mine and some turned out great... others not so much.

I think the FRS/BRZ would look great with completely red tails.

Just looks wise it looks like the wheel/tire combo is not only stretched way too much (don't even go near curbs with that thing!) but that the actual diameter of the wheel/tire combo is too large. Maybe it's not but it looks like it.

On Hellaflush:

I don't like things that don't fit. Hellaflush is improper fitment. The end. It's wheels with offsets that are wrong for the vehicles they're on and tires that don't fit the wheels they're put on.

If that's your thing, fine. But don't be surprised when people in a crowd that's built up around a car that was marketed as the everyman's track car don't like it when people do EXTREMELY non-functional modifications. Does it really affect my life if someone goes hellaflush on their car? No. But I don't like to see the engineering work Toyota and Subaru put in so badly compromised just for a look that to 90% of the population just looks like someone couldn't afford to buy parts that fit their car.

Heh. I wonder if that's how hellaflush started. "I can't afford to buy new wheels, but I have these ones from my old car, and I can't afford tires but I have these ones that are the right diameter, let's see if it fits!"

"Bro, your shit looks whack, why are your wheels sticking out and why are your tires so small"

"Nah man, it's the new thing, everyone's doing it, it's hellaflush bro!"
