Why does everyone on road try and drag race the 86...
Its annoying... All types of cars.

Had a guy trying to race me from the lights the other day and i gave it a few revs and took off slow. hehe... Then I got in front of him and turned off in a side street, then what do know he followed me.

Didnt bother in a straight line. But once we hit the back streets he couldnt keep up.

It would affect any insurance claim if your insurer found out your car was not road worthy. Removing any emission control component makes a car non ADR compliant.
As has been said before the chances of being caught are small; the impact of being caught huge.
But insurance companies do not operate on the same guidelines (ADR) as the government. They do not even have access to detailed info from post accident police inspections. They have their own assessors and if a part did not cause or contribute towards the accident it will be treated as oem and not even mentioned.

The issue is if you install an aftermarket replacement for an oem part, and it fails and causes an accident. Then it is up to the insurance whether or not it was an acceptable oem replacement and whether they will pay out none, a percentage, or all of a claim. Being ADR compliant would certainly help them view it as acceptable replacement, but is by no means a guarantee.

Just car's example when I talked to them about this was oversize wheels. Nearly all of their customers are on aftermarket wheels and majority of them on illegal sizes yet they have never used it as leverage in a claim because it would not hold up in court that the size itself was the cause of the failure/accident (and I guess most aftermarket wheels are of higher quality than oem). So it's a fairly common sense approach, and we should be thankful of that IMO.

In theory the police could charge you for manslaughter for an illegal mod failing and killing someone, but if the insurance company found said aftermarket part to be an acceptable oem replacement they would find you not at fault and pay out your claim while you're sitting in jail!

Are there any snowboarders on the forums that could take a pic of how easy/hard it is to get snowboards in the boot/backseats?

Not exactly "in-header cats".
The catalytic converter on a Cappuccino is in the down pipe of the turbo which in the NA car would be its headers

Thank you for your detailed reply. You have brought up points I was not aware of.
In the NRMA Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance policy booklet it says
"If you do not tell us the following we may refuse or reduce a claim, or cancel your Policy:
your vehicle is not in a condition that meets registration requirements in your State or Territory."

Of course this does not apply to every insurer and maybe one would be very unlucky for it to bite them on the bum but for me I am not willing to take the risk.
I will not give my ADR spiel again.

i did a trip to the snow this year in the 86 and you can easily fit two boards diagonally from the boot to the opposite seat + luggage.

It comes with the maps loaded on an SD card, but are there specific map files that work this head unit.
Are there free updates through Toyota (my wife's Veloster Turbo comes with 3 years of free map updates).
