There are lots of complexities in the system regarding restrictions on transmission vs colour vs model etc. Some people have accidental impeccable timing with car orders. I am confident without getting my hopes up too much that those who ordered within a 10 day period of the wholesale date (june 18th) will receive good news in the next couple of months.

Mine has already definitely been pushed out to at least december, and will find out next week if it's bumped again till next year. At this stage of the game, knowing I'm still at least 4months away from sitting in the seat, i'm liking the fact it's a 2013 build not a 2012
I put a deposit down on the 13th of june - Reckon mine will be 2012 or 13?

I'm cool either way.

You obviously work for a Dealership, but i'm not sure if you have seen Page 6 of this topic - letter signed by Scott Thompson from Toyota saying how delivery of the GTS had been pushed out to 18 months or more BUT, that GT's were 2/3 months wait! I only ordered my GT 2 July with October build at first, then November and now December, but I expected that because of the huge amount of orders that would have been taken from 18 June to 30 June alone!

Your comment regarding the additonal 740 and then 700 is appreciated but I dont think one should get hopes up that much, one Dealer here took 90 orders in the first FOUR days! I test drove on Friday 22 June and they had 90 by then!

Another very large Dealership here in Brisbane gets NONE for October!! I just happened to get that from the Dealer Principal while we were at Lakeside!

Thanks again for your posts and as I said, just sit back and eat donuts!!

Congratz! Im confirmed now pick up booked for Tuesday. Its pretty surreal that a few months back we were the ones watching people pickup their cars while we were talking about August builds and september pickups. Now we are the ones picking up the cars and there are the people talking about October and November builds/pickups.

September Cars Gallery incoming!

I guess next we will be the ones talking about noises and rattles that we need to get fixed at our first 1000km service

DanVIIIVI = BRILLIANT NEWS ! That's "additional stock", great stuff! Reckon I will find out Friday or Monday when the actual build date will be - I'm hoping for good news AND a fault free 86 !

Believe me! That Celica will make a great track car, you couldn't buy a machine with that power for that price! Not sure if you have done any suspension mods etc but to me 'way to go!'

Cool.

Slight chance i may get mine tomorrow. Not getting my hopes up though.

May be the last night with the celica. Might go for a drive through the royal national park later tonight. Just one last time maybe.

Yes, me car sits very low, weighs 1100kgs & needs fatter sway bars to kill lateral movement & better brakes, otherwise it's definitely an impressive tool, especially if you have the revs up & you "plan" the drive ahead. With 8500 rpm & 6sp quick-shift gearbox me car has plenty of top end speed - I just wave them goodbye when they think it's all over then me car hits the magic 6K ! It feels & sounds awesome

A supercharger & less 200-300kgs would be madness unless it had a TRD LSD.

Still, I can't wait for the magic of the 86. A car that steers that good & quickly around corners is a far bigger thrill than str8 line speed. Unless you have both

Know the feeling well!! I managed to do laps in one when released in '99 at Mt Cotton circuit in Brisbane, Toyota rang and asked would I like to go! Bought a Corolla Sportivo back in '03 with same engine and as you say, 'they don't know where you went!' Most think of a Corolla as a sedate 'ladys car' and don't expect it to get up and boogey!! Sold the Corolla a few weeks ago for $8000 ABOVE 'red book' price and $4,500 above trade-in price

Now the wait but it WILL come!!

Congrats on the sale ! I too was asked to test soon after release @ Sandown with Neil Bates, also drove on me own. They're quick on track & sound like Japanese motorbikes when racing, they rev so hard !

Funny!! I did mine with Rick Bates & Greg Carr, 10 cars and 20 people only!! We were told 'drive the **** off it!!', so I did!! I remember the one allocated to me had 1,300km on it - then did some quick laps with Rick driving and saw how you CAN make a FWD car handle! Mt Cotton is a nice track, shame it's only for Driver Training!!
