The part replaced was: SU003-00328 PMP AY-FUEL.H PRS

Which is for the DI fuel pump. I'm curious, anyone here that has already had their part replaced, is this the same part number for the replacement they installed? If it dates back to June, something tells me this isn't a redesigned DI pump. Would they use the same part number for a revised part? Just trying to get to the bottom of this issue.

They absolutely would not use the same part # for a revised part. Audi had revised their B7 chassis A4 fuel pump 7 or 8 times, designating each part number xxxx-xxx-xxx - A, B, C, D, E, F, G, or H

Which is why I think that @Sh0tym3 is mistaken (unless he can provide the new part #) in thinking that his car had a "new" revised DI fuel pump installed. There is no new part number indicating that a truly new pump is out. The chirp may temporarily be gone, but with time and when the engine is hot and running on e10 gasoline, it will probably start chirping again.

Can you please post the new part # here so we can avoid spreading misinformation once and for all?

This thread is funny....it's not a faulty part issue, it's a fuel type issue. The noise doesn't affect the reliability, longevtivity or operation of any part of the vehicle.

Mechanical parts make noises...

It's funny how irritated people get over engine noise with a car that is not even close to a luxury car.... it's a moving machine that is literally exploding on the inside.

My car has chirps and crickets, but I don't mind them and actually prefer it. Seems normal to me. There are some videos where it sounds obnoxious though (which I would get fixed if it happened to me), but overall I think it's bearble.

The point of early adopters making an issue of things like this is so that 1) we can get it fixed for ourselves and 2) future MY buyers will not experience the issue. If we all just said "meh, I can live with it" then nothing would happen.

How do you know that? You can't know that. Did you run extensive testing on a chirping pump? If it hasn't failed in a few thousand miles you can't say that it won't fail at 50,000 miles. You're just speculating just like most other people in this thread

Spartan65 also received part SU003-00328 as his replacement. Talked to him via PM. So looks like the redesigned DI unit is still a mythical creature.

Factory recall IIRC. They were all bad and set to fail and caused owners all kinds of headaches.

Thanks, this is why I remained skeptical through all the claims of "new" DI fuel pumps and the fuel quality related chirping issue being "fixed" when the same old part# pump is installed.

And you know this how exactly? Do you have access to a large sample of BRZs with 100k miles, with all of them on E10 gas?

My noise has gotten louder and probably got to my head too, cause I think I can hear it even while cruising. I'm taking my car to the dealer as soon as my schedule clears and asking for a new pump. Don't care if it's the same part#.
More logged repairs are out there in the system (more owners are closer to lemon law thresholds for repair attempts of the same issue per their state laws), the higher the pressure on Subaru/Toyota to come-up with a real fix.

The N54 engine of BMW is used on E90/E92 335i/iX/iS E82 135i and BMW 135iM.

It is a 3.0L inline six, twin turbo charged engine.

This engine has Direct Inject system and port inject system, just like FA20.

When the load of direct inject system is high and over some time. The high pressure fuel pump begin to fail.

The common sign of fail HPFP is ticking noise and whistle sound. Also it will causing multiple cylinder miss fire.

Some HPFP are begin fail at around 3000 miles. But some are holding well untill 10K or 20K miles.

I read a lot about these too - ironically, it's why I didn't get a 335i. Nice huh?

In any case, I'm not sure it explains why the sound goes away when you use non-ethanol fuel. I know there have been mixed reports, but overwhelmingly the folks who use non-ethanol fuel don't have this issue.
