This might be a dumb question but I'm not too familiar with braking systems. Why does the brake bleeder have to point upwards?

Because the air in the system rises to the top of the caliper... with the bleeder on the bottom you'd never bleed the air out

Now we just have to see how having the differential-bored caliper flipped the opposite way affects braking performance.

How much can these parts be sourced for if someone wanted to do this on their BRZ/FRS?

we did not swap sides.... l/f caliper stay with left front as it go the same for right side. so the bored stays the same. as mention in the op we swapped the bleeder and the cap that is on the opposite end

Oh, right! Derp. I need more sleep.

Set of four (front and rear) with rotors usually runs around $1,000. My friend is selling a set right now; if anyone's interested, PM me!

Sometimes a little more. You will also have to take into consideration the adapter mounts, adapter shoes or rotors, and possibly the lines.

So .. swapping bleeder to top = 2004 STi calipers are direct fit? this is a CHEAP way to upgrade brakes. awesome

can the caliper swap right onto the stock FR-S/ BRZ rotor?

Not quite. It may or may not need a spacer to line up the caliper to the rotor. Not a big deal. But using the Brembo caliper on a smaller rotor means a smaller friction surface. In my opinion it would not be worth the cost to upgrade. You are better spending a few bucks more for the STi rotors.

What is the stock front/rear brake bias on the STi? What is it on the BRZ? If someone knows please share! Thx

That's the most important question if you guys are actually doing this for performance (not just bling).

Does this also mean the JDM/2007 WRX 4 pots will bolt up?

In line with @RYU's question, I'm also wondering about the master cylinder sizing compared to the STi?
