Looking for recommended changes to reduce understeer on track.
Car info 2019 pp Hancook rs4 245 40 17 on 9in RCE tarmac 2 with 7kg f/r springs *edit* Ride height: F: 13 1/2 in R. 13 9/16 in Recommended clicks for track -3.4 f -2.6 r 3mm toe in rear 0 toe front Subframe and diff bushing stiffeners The initial turn in is great, lots of bite but mid corner and track out it wants to plow and understeer and the front tires howl a lot. It’s manageable and still very fast, but I’d like a bit more neutral handling. I’m wondering if lowering the front will help Or stiffer rear springs Or do I need a rear bar Looking forward to advice Last edited by Danny318; 05-22-2022 at 04:09 PM. |

I have the SS1 and had to go stiffer springs in the rear to get the balance like I want it.

Before purchasing other mods I’d try playing with shocks, roll center and alignment; mid corner push could be reduced stiffening front rebound and rear compression damping a little, lowering front roll center or raising rear and using less toe in rear to get more rotation. You can also open a bit the front toe, like 2mm open front and 0 to 2 closed rear.
Then if you’re still pushing you may try a stiffer rear bar. |

Tried the stock 6k and went to 7k in the rear. Like mentioned, there would be other ways to go about it but I had been running Swift SpecR and liked the higher rate in the rear. Mostly track, with a little bit of street and AX. I understeered pretty badly on track and the 7k rear took care of that for me.

You could go a 1/4 inch lower front and rear, but you don't have to.
Try increasing rear compression 3 clicks. Could also (or instead) reduce front rebound but that will have an affect on turn in. Start there because it's free, but adding some 8k rear springs is certainly another possible solution that works. Would also try to get some tire temps and see if you need a smidge more front camber. That's 3mm total rear toe in right? - Andrew |

Yeah, 3mm total toe. I did try 4 clicks more of rear compression while on track and it really only made it more bumpy when driving to the gas station. Tire temps with a pyrometer were pretty even so camber is good. I will try lowering it. I know some run a lot lower in the front than rear (csg Mike right?). Does a lower front lead to less understeer? I知 thinking I値l need the 8k springs |

A lower front is better as long as you have enough bump stroke to keep everything off from the bumpstops, otherwise it will be worse. Also, dropping til -35 or more requires to adjust roll center in my opinion. It gets higher when you’re lower, makes everything even stiffer.
Rear toe makes a great difference though, I’d give it a try. |

I ordered 8k springs for the rear and hope to get them in for the next event in a month. I’ll lower the front a bit too. May even corner balance. Will update late June. Hopefully this gets it dialed. Thanks for all the suggestions.
