I have made a very good carreer because of dipshits that DID know better and did dumb stuff anyway.

I dunno They know not to punch hardened spring steel without annealing it first. He was told it was ar500 and not to try to punch it. He told me he thought at only 3/8 thick he could still get away with it anyway. He has got a permanent trophy on his forearm now that took 3 stiches' to close.

Eh, you are right, it was incredibly stupid. I am making sure the banter he is getting is more memorable than the physical scar. I asked him if I dummy proofed the machine, if he would just be a bigger dummy.

Depending on the recipient, a little well-natured shaming can be effective. In private is best until, like @humfrz' backing-up stories, he outs himself. Then we know the message was received in good faith and humor.
