His 1Gen is on E85 with a header. The 2Gen is not 40-50whp more than his current car. More like 10-15whp.. |

you have to consider that once more tuning options come out for the second gen and you get e85 with headers + tune on a second gen it won't even be close compared to your tuned first gen. I just hope shiv decides to offer support for the second gen on oft so we have a more economical tuning option over ecutek and its locked tunes.
ATM from most review videos it sounds like a first gen on headers + tune and petrol is close but still a bit behind a stock second gen. Me wanting to eventually upgrade to second gen once my financing for my first gen is complete next year is based on it's higher potential ceiling than the first gen, not how good the car is stock vs modded first gen. Tinkering with my car is fun to me so there's no chance my eventual second gen will remain stock.

If you got tons mod in there already i would just stay with 1st gen unless you really wanna toss some $$$ @ dealer sales.
If you do want a 2nd gen, I would suggest getting it used cuz you know there will be a bunch. |

I'm not surprised with how you feel OP. You are taking a car modified to your taste and comparing against a revised stock newer version, It just goes to show that you have got your current car dialled in really well.
If it was stock vs stock the difference would be more stark. I think you need to decide if you can be bothered going through the same process of modifying the new car to get a noticeable difference. |

Well the good thing is, OP can keep all the mods he's got from his gen. 1 and transfer them to a gen. 2.
How well they'll work on the new car is another question. Do we already have dyno figures of gen. 2s on E85? Also, it's not surprising a much taller-geared auto, with a much milder exhaust note, will feel slower than his gen. 1. |

Does your FRS have heated seats? That’s what sold me on 2nd gen.

Shouldn't be too hard to retrofit to a first gen. Either with aftermarket pads, of by fitting entire seats: https://www.ebay.com/itm/25522188587...0AAOSwJtdaOCP4

When I see comparisons between E85 1st gens and 2nd gens, my first question is where tf is everyone getting E85 from? lol I have one gas station 30 mins away that carries E85.

Here's a stock '22 BRZ on Primacys soundly beating a GT86 on Direzzas. The '22 is E36 M3 quick vs Integra Type R quick for the Gen 1. There's more to the '22 than just .4 liters. The body structure is much stiffer and that's going to make suspension mods work even better. With your mods, maybe you couldnt feel it but its much stiffer. I own both. '13 FRS with a catback exhaust/Tein Flex Z/RPF1 245/17 with spc rlcas. The steering is still full of feel but it is lighter. After Bilstein B8s/Swift Spec Rs and Raceseng camber plates, I'll see if that makes a difference. My '13 was stock for about 5 minutes can't compare stock to stock. I find there to be a big gain in power not only through the mid range but the top end as well. I also owned 2 RX8s and that stiffness in the '22 is what reminds of my RX8s. Those have phenomenal torsional rigidity.

I will go back to e85 in the spring/summer, but figured that now isn't a bad time to let her have some 93 for awhile. Besides, I don't have a flex fuel kit so switching back and forth is a little bit of a pain. Can't wait to get my 2022 and will be itching for the first tunes for catless header and e85 to get their initial bugs worked out. |
