Upgrading my rear suspension questions
After my 100,000 mile inspection my mechanic informed me that I need a new right rear strut & mount (Yay PA Roads), & a new lower left ball joint/control arm. I figured it's probably best to just re-do both back struts at this point, replace everything in pairs & everything.
For the rear suspension I'm planning on upgrading to the Bilstein B6s, but was curious what new mounts to get with them. This is a daily driver & I'm not too familair with suspension parts. I was looking at the KYB Strut Mount, but figured it might be worth it to upgrade to a Raceseng or Vorshlag Spherical Mounts. I just don't know why the Raceseng has 1" and 2" options & what perch I'd need. (Again, no idea what I'm looking for). I also noticed people recommended installing whiteline rear subframe inserts. Would that be worth it since I'm replacing the struts? I'm currently planning on sticking with the OEM shocks. Unless there's a reason or cheap upgrade I should be doing. For the left lower ball joint arm, it's apparently bent. (Again, Yay PA Roads - Specifically looking at you Boulevard Overpass Contruction Crew) is this something I'm fine just replacing the left one of? Any aftermarket upgrades that aren't too expensive?

B6s are an upgrade. I'd recommend doing all 4 together.
For strut mounts, stick with OEM. |

Consider adjustable LCAs in case you want to lower it later. Not much price difference.

Other than a defective new one, struts should basically always be done in pairs (both front or both rear).
But frankly as suggested I would just bite the bullet and do all four at once. Especially if you are upgrading.

I would do all 4. It might be worth it to do RCE yellow coils, only lowers 20mm and many people like them with B6.

Alright, leaning toward doing all 4. My shop recommended replacing all the strut mounts as well because if I'm replacing the struts & the one mount is already degrading, it's probably best to just do all of them & be all new rather than potentially have to wait for another part after things get taken apart.
So, Looking at -B6 Front & Back -Assuming I should include new Strut Boots -Stick with OEM Springs or the RCE Yellows -Strut Mounts - OEM However, the OEM Front Strut Mounts say they're not available & the "replacement" product says it doesn't fit with the 2013.... Any other mounts people recommend? I found a few threads mentioning Pedders, but they're currently sold out on front mounts.

I agree with BigTuna, but I would replace the strut mounts. Anything OEM 2013-2020 will fit your car. I posted some part numbers in this thread:

OEM front mounts are the same across the board for FRS/BRZ.
If you find something that fits a 2017 it fits the 2013 too. Edit I was beat too it. |

I made a call and Subaru fixed it.
Jk I have no idea what happened. Sometimes the parts websites are clunky. - Andrew |
