Has anyone taken apart the car to see how the new audio systems are laid out yet?
My car doesn't come in til next year, but I will definitely be replacing the entire audio system. I hear even the new Limited system isn't that great, so I'm sure the Premium system is just as bad, if not worse than the first gen.
Anyway, has anyone taken off the dash grills or looked in the trunk to to see how the speakers and amplifier has changed? I still have some adapter brackets and harnesses left over from my first gen. Curious to see if I'll be able to reuse those. Thanks! |

I haven't seen any indication there's anything seriously different. One thread indicated that the BRZ premium drops the dash midranges, while the limited gets them, along with the standard tweeters and 6.5" door speakers.
Biggest question might be head unit integration, but I expect it will have the standard speaker level outputs, using the bog-standard Toyota harness. They're still using the same chassis and mounting points overall with a refreshed interior cards and some exterior sheet metal, so I don't see any reason to expect anything different from before

I want to know if I can put the old subwoofer in the limited. Or do they have a new one coming?

with the change in the rear end and trunk opening, i fully expect the previous sub won't work.

https://parts.subaru.com/p/Subaru_20...6229CC010.html All of the mounting points should be identical. Or at least, as others point out, they appear to be the same given the speaker location hasn't changed. But last gen had 8 speakers standard on all cars, so I don't think it is clear if the car is pre-wired for the amp in the trunk and the 2 speakers you lose on top of the dash. Something tells me no. Why would they spend the time and money on that? That would also incentivize owners to spend more for the upper trim. But I could be wrong. Beyond that, I don't think we know about ports and connections. |

That's pretty annoying...it's small features like this that make me either buy a car or move to another manufacturer.
Auto up and down windows are a must Auto folding mirrors are a must Dual climate control is a must Rear seat vents are a must Moon roof with slide/tilt is a must Obviously things like rear vents on the BRZ aren't practical....but I don't understand no auto folding mirrors. I'd love a new Crosstrek as a beater car...but can't get over the US doesn't have dual climate control option. Also looking at new Forester for my wife to drive with our new child as I'm taking her 2020 outback touring XT. But of course.... Forrester doesn't have auto folding mirrors or auto up/down windows in the rear. Boggles my mind |

On a Tahoe, sure. It is necessary as most people don't have garages designed for such a larger vehicle. |
