Yeah, after reading the news, I had to google it. It doesn't sound fun...

Gave Koe no Katachi a watch since I've been seeing on Netflix as a recommendation for a while.

Honestly one of the most depressing movies I've watched in my life because some stuff really resonated with me personally.

I think I liked it for the most part, but I felt like the climax was a bit hamfisted in the usual anime way, which sort of reduced my last impression of it a smidge.

But it was still a fairly solid watch with, I think, some valuable lessons about forgiveness and such there. The art style was quite good and some scenes fantastic. Music was more subtle than other films but also had its moments.

Edit: I'm skimming some of the reviews on MyAnimeList, which I rarely do. Honestly some of the critiques seem overboard but I don't know if i'm fit to judge. Kinda interesting, though, to consider the different elements of this one (don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it).

I didn't mind watching the Koe no Katachi. Manga went a bit more detail than the movie... which is understandable.

TBH I liked Koe no Katachi than Kimi no Na ha. Felt like Kimi no Na ha was more overhyped than anything imo reused animation and story. Just better graphics.

I actually liked Kimi no Na ha more, but honestly IMO they're different enough genres, very different stories. As much as the latter is a love story, the first one isn't (to me at least), at least tangentially.

And since I don't watch a ton of anime, I didn't see any story reuse with it. It was fairly unique, nice art style, and the music from RADWIMPS was pretty enjoyable.

Director reused his old work into the Kimi no Na ha... just like Disney lol

Ahhh. Meh, I didn't catch that even though I've seen one or two of his other films, like 5cm/s and Tenki no Ko. I know he likes to casually sort of write so that it's a connected universe, though.

Thinking about re-watching Pandora Hearts. Such a shame it didn't make it into a Season 2.

I discovered Gantz and talk about a bizarre series. The Manga is better, but still oddly addicting.

Been watching You're Under Arrest. Enjoying it so far. Don't know how I missed this piece of 90's goodness for so long.

In my current boredom phase I guess I'm catching my Nth anime watching wind. Watched Kotonoha no Niwa the other day.

Then today I just started Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso.

Normally I wouldn't say I'm into slice of life / drama animes and I've always kinda stayed away from them but I guess this is my life now .

Have been on the fence about watching either of those. What did you think?

I suppose I could just watch a bit and give up if I don't like it lol.
