So someone in Vegas put on fake Michigan Manufacturer plates and taped up the badges on a current gen 86 to drive around and fool people. Yeah makes sense, thanks for pointing that out, should’ve realised it.

Oh how silly of me. Nobody ever drives to Vegas from other states unless they are testing new engines in old platforms when the actual new version has been seen. Of course how could I not see that.
Those are just normal Michigan plates. Not sure where you even came up with the whole "fake" part.

The jkim85 dude they keep quoting as an expert from the other forum has not been right on one single thing he has posted yet so is hardly a reliable source of information. In fact he has been corrected by a member from here several times. The "popular" blog that the clickbait references has a whole 115 members and 780 posts so not exactly an official statement. In fact they are yet another place that takes other people's photos and slap their watermark on it as if it was theirs. The whole site is just dripping with bullshit yet once again some fools will fall for it.

Lol. C’mon mate, it’s not about winning rounds . I just thought it’d be a small story that some people might be interested in. Not Earth shattering news or anything like that. Agree nothing confirmed about engines but I think they’re testing something. As I said I think the turbo/non-turbo engine stuff in the article is just fluff.

I’m pretty bored as we’re still in strict COVID lockdown where I am and reading more car stuff than I should. We’re only allowed out for exercise for 1 hour per day and there’s a curfew from 8pm until 5am, so a lot of time (too much time) on my hands.

they seem to have done a thorough job of covering up all the exterior badging that you can see.

-Rear Subaru logo is taped up.
-Subaru text decal is also taped up.
-center wheel caps are gone.

The only conclusion that i can draw from it is that the car is POSSIBLY a test mule of SOME KIND.

I dont really understand why manufacturers cover up the badges in situations like this.....the car is clearly a Subaru based on the design (in this case...its a BRZ/86 because...thats what they look like). Are they going all superman and thinking a badge coverup is just gonna completely change the car from obvious to anonymous?
