Ain't that the truth. But, I figure if C&D *and* a few other sites actually all manage to report on something that has a source that's either actual spy-shots that are obvious or from the manufacturers themselves, it's likely a good chance that it's truthful. I just hate how advertising has determined pricing, which brings the quality of content down, rather than the other way around, where quality content demands higher pricing for advertisements.

I will agree if the info came from the manufacturer in some documented form. Spy shots and alleged "interviews" however are usually still rife with speculation and the "journalist's" opinions so must be approached with extreme caution.

IDK, Mercedes said Porsche came from a low-end one recently. I'll ask Lexus what she thinks.

Thus, "opinion". Everyone's got them. I don't care about most of 'em.

She's not that bad. Then again, I may have had too much Stoli.

A lot of your post is spot on, but this is highly inaccurate. So far off

The more and more I think about it, the introduction of a 255hp 4 cylinder Supra effectively KILLS a 250hp 86 (or BRZ). Too close to the Supra.

I bet it gets to about 230 hp and a few more torque, probably a nicer interior and still has an available manual.

I'd have the Supra in my garage right now, IF it had a manual. In 10 years, maybe NO ONE offers a manual transmission....which is sad.

We all came to that conclusion 2 threads ago

Still too close to the 4 cyl supra.

Think more along the lines of hybrid 2 door IS250 with a boxer.

You're right, VTEC is only a few lbs. I guess I thought of it because all of that mass sits at the very top of the engine and is in the valvetrain where it contributes heavily to power loss. I find the simplicity of shimless bucket lifters very attractive.

To equal opportunity critique my own post, plastic intake manifolds aren't very heavy either.

For the record, we haven't *all* come to the conclusion that the 86 MUST be a LOT slower than the 4cylinder Supra. Plenty of manufacturers have sold lesser performance cars that outperformed their higher-end sports cars equipped with base lower-performance engines. It is not a rule that the 86 MUST be a lot slower than the 4cylinder Supra.

But anyway, an N.A. 2.4 86 making 230 up to even 250hp but right at ~7000rpm would be *significantly* slower than the 255hp turbo 4cylinder Supra that will probably make more than 255 at the crank over nearly half its rev range. Despite the 4cyl Supra having "inferior" peak rated power to weight. So it's not even an issue.

Here's to a no-weight-gain 2nd gen with a 225-240ish horsepower 2.4. It *could* happen

It was a joke. I hope you guys don't take what I say as speaking for all of you when I say "all." I'm pretty stupid sometimes
