Thanx for that link! So now we know that toda 2.3l is good for 15hp and sequentials with proper ratios are the tits.

Interestingly enough Revolution Garage was able to get about 214whp(246bhp) from their 2.1/2.2L they finished recently. But their dyno still shows the familiar 6500 fall off. I'm all for a meatier midrange but even flat lining after peak hp like those pesky Hondas would be nice. |

It was never about peak power with the Toda 2.3L kit. There were lengthy discussions here in the past and people didn't get it at that time. As mentioned in the video it is about a much better mid rev range torque which helps on corner exiting. Not a coincidence that the specific car had the highest 86/BRZ top speed and even better than the Honda Civic Type R and the NSX Type R!

Could just as easily be the factory IM which we know is a bottle neck. Forgot I had this dyno of Revolutions old 2.3L from years ago. I assume they used the Toda 2.3L kit. It had VVT issues in the upper rev just like their 2.1 initially according to their diary before they cleaned it up. |

It is not only about the intake manifold. In general a percentage increase in engine displacement doesn't mean always a similar percentage increase in power! Check for example the power output of the FB20 and the FB25 engine. The FB20 outputs 148hp and the FB25 outputs 170hp.

I wasn't referring to percentage output but rather power delivery and torque curve. I would expect diminishing returners too if the only thing changed is the displacement as the original design is optimized for a smaller capacity. |

If the intake is a bottleneck why can't anyone improve on it?

Hot Version and Best Motoring are great programs. They genuinely thrash the cars, and it's great to see how they react. Scantily clad kawaii girls are a bonus.

I would imagine that bigger valves and port work would benefit the larger displacement. No end to it. Lots of money needed

At a certain point, longer duration and more lift cause driveability issues as compression bleeds off at lower rpm due to increased overlap.
