Ok, my BRZ was purchased Nov 2012 and manufactured 9/12, but when I put my vin in the Safercar.gov and the MySubaru site, both show no recalls for my BRZ. Are these sites up to date on this issue or is it too early???

I’m thinking it’s still too early and would keep checking

So my car is within the manufacture date and VIN# range but neither NHTSA nor Subaru are showing any recalls on my particular VIN#... Did I just get super lucky or is the database not fully updated yet? Anyone else experience the same?

Edit: So reading fail... two posts above me with same story, oops!

You can't get to the springs until the cams come off.
Yamaha had a factory tool made of Teflon that would do it. I used it on a bike head. It was amazing.

Yep. Pressurize cylinder. Volkswagen replaced my valve seats in my GTI under warranty without removing the heads.

If I'm gonna have this work done for free, I wouldn't mind chipping in another few hours of labour out of pocket if there's a benefit to be had.

For context, I'm at 100k km on the BRZ, spark plugs already done 6k ago (dammit).

Thoughts?
New throwout bearing.

That's my plan, the part is ~$20. Install shouldn't cost much more since they already pulled the engine lol

Consider Velox's clutch fork and billet clutch fork pivot

I ran mine this afternoon and it still shows not affected. I figured with it being a late '12 build it would be. I'll try again tomorrow.

Seals. Seats are pressed into the head. Necessity is the mother of invention lol

Seals maybe. The seats are in the combustion chamber.

Seal, seats, I forget. It was 1979. You get my point. Burned oil like crazy, then didn't burn a drop.

I was just commenting on how they keep the valves closed...Air.

That’s for setting the keepers though. You still need to compress the spring. Hell you can use a socket and a light wack of a hammer to pop the keepers. Vaseline helps with putting them back on but this tool is magnetic which would keep the keepers on the stem while releasing the spring compressor.

No, that tool compresses spring to remove keepers as well.
