e85 and Crawford power blocks

I just started running e85 and I still have power blocks installed. Has the loss in peak power ever been quantified? Im just wondering if it is worth it to remove them when using e85?

Combine your power blocks with a turbonator and you will never be beaten.

.. Or remove and sell the power blocks.

Turbonator? As in turbo?
If so l, I'm reading it has little effects if at all combining turbo with the blocks.

The ppl at Open Flash did some testing. From my understanding the blocks make the car shine from 5-6500k and then power starts falling off.
Where as E85 will have a bump the entire power band but especially at 6k+ I think in a sense they almost work against eachother.

Although I think If you are tuned for both you aren’t making any less power then if you took them off and retuned. It’s just the BPB are giving you zero benefit if you have E85 so a waste of money to do BPB after getting E85.

Personally I only have the blocks and no experience with E85. Would love to see someone’s testing with both.

I did testing on the powerblocks with Bill from Delicious Tuning on the dyno we made more peak hp without PB. Now on the flip side tq was better down low. I removed them because to us it wasn't worth the top end loss I believe if I remember right it was pk hp at 6900 rpms blocks installed and without it was pk hp at 7400rpms. Their should be a thread on hear from them somewhere car never left the dyno during testing

What do you want? Low end tq for DD - leave them on.

Need more power up top for spirited driving, track autox - take them off.

My car has decent top end power with the spacers. I was only trying to get some info on just how much power is lost up top with them. If I need more power it will be time for f.i.

With a proper tune you shouldn’t really lose peak max hp, just shifts down about 600rpm. For example if before at 6800rpm u made peak power at 190hp and you made 184hp at 6200rpm, you should make 190 at 6200rpm with blocks and if tuned properly should still be about 188hp at 6800rpm. So yes you lose top end but shouldn’t lose peak numbers. And overall from 5k-7500rpm you should have more power.

Between these two forums you should be able to get all the info needed

I read those threads yrs ago. The question is their effects on e85 tuning. I'm not gonna go nuts over 5hp from a 25k car lol

Yeah, he never posted a dyno with E85, he just said on pg7 how he was unable to get back the top end loses from the blocks with E85 and basically BpB is the poor mans E85.

Most ppl with E85 EL header and tune will raise limiter to 7600+ and still be making near peak power that high. With blocks you lose too much 6.8k+ power so no point in reving over 7200. I’m sure sub 6500rpm you’ll still see some benefit if all you care about is DDing low/mid range power.

Personally if I ran E85 I would take BPB off. Especially if I wasn’t custom tuned for it. Probably doesn’t make a Huge difference. But most ppl like squeezing every last drop out of this car.
