ethanol-free gas?

I just found something y'all have probably known about for a hundred years.

If you'd like to drive on real gasoline without the alcohol (in the tank, that is) a website called Pure-Gas.org will show you hundreds of stations which offer ethanol-free gas, state by state, all on an interactive Google map. Tap on the location pin and you get a gloss with the station name, address and phone, which octane grades are offered, and often what the source of their gas is. My bailiwick is Western North Carolina, but I frequently ramble from Northern Virginia to South Carolina and East Tennessee. I made notes for 20 stations before I gave it a rest. What has your experience been?

Generally, in my area at least, premium is ethanol free.

Though given I run on ethanol, finding stations with e85 is much harder.

I haven't been able to find non-ethanol premium in my area in a few years. There used to be a couple of stations that had 93 but it disappeared. And before it disappeared it was extremely expensive compared to E10. I've since switched to an E85 tune and couldn't be happier. It's cheaper, more powerful, and has amazing knock resistance.

ethanol free premium gas is usually of worse quality than gas with 10% ethanol. I'll stick to ethanol.

Pls elaborate more, in my application the engine runs more smooth and when i data log iam stay at 1.0 and never see a single knock. On the flip side with 93 (e10) the crickets come but with steroids, knock on higher load and iam drop dramatically to 0.7

Please explain why you think this or where you got this information.

I run strictly premium non ethanol from CFN or Pacific Pride.

Well, I put in my first tank (2/3, anyway) of ethanol-free 93 from the Quality Plus station, and am encouraged: my fuel economy jumped to 37 mpg from 32, and the loud pedal seems to spur those horses forward with more energy. I will wait until the e10 93 is out of the system before I say anything for sure.

It's not cheap, of course, but if the new mileage holds, the price differential should be close to a wash. The Quality Plus stations seem to be all over my area, and most seem to feature e10 87 and e0 93 coming out of every shiny pump.

So that's my first impression -- now to listen for the "Silence of the Crickets."
