I do think it will do better than the cars you listed, on the "special spectrum" which IMO ranges from the NSX all the way to the Veloster Turbo, we are definitely on the NSX side of the equation, but still short of the FD rx7, TT Supra, S2000, etc

That's only because the eclipse in the movie had the crappy 420a. If it was a real GSX it would smoke the competition for less.

I never noticed it wasn't a 4G63 - just figured it was a GS-T...standalone fuel management though...

Half the cars used didn't even have calipers so trying to discuss real world performance based on any car featured in the movies is a total waste of time.

How do you figure it would cost that? Back in the day there were guys pushing 400HP that would smoke a Jetta with under $10K investment.

that is awesome. I know a magazine actually did head to head comparison of the functioning versions of a bunch of the cars from the first movie, they all had issues and ran slower 0-60 and 1/4mi than the stock versions of themselves.

I was being facetious - basing my math on the "he's got $100k under that (S2000) hood" comment in the racewars scene.

LOL Ok I missed that. I was truly baffled.

My poor old battered and worn out 91, Talon, TSi, AWD went onto a better life when I sold it in 2000. The guy that bought it had a side business that did nothing but turn first gen DSMs into drag cars. Last I heard (about 5 years back) was that the old girl was running around 700HP and winning many a race. Now, about all that was left from my car was the block and the shell but it still felt good to know she didn't go to the scrap heap.

Based on my research, there were a total of 40k or so BRZs sold since release... I don't see how this is a "high volume" car by any means. Almost 100k mustangs get sold each year. I still see it as a low volume car. I had a 2007 S2K and in 2011-2012 you could get one for like $10k because no one wanted one. Now, they are the ultimate roadster commanding full retail pricing. There will be a curve on the BRZ, but I think it will slowly go up after time has passed.

That can only hold true if they stop making them relatively soon. Otherwise, there will be more of them than people who want a 10 year old mass produced car. Miatas are real cheap.
