We should rent Ken's Vette.

For Monday and Tuesday? we could leave the Nissan with the girls. That actually isn't a bad idea.

Ultra, are you gonna install this clutch cylinder in my car while you're here? I still haven't done it.

Where are you guys staying Monday night?

My wife and I did the USS Hornet tour a couple days ago. Unbelievable! And I’m not a war/military buff.

Our tour guide was Thomas Burns. I can’t imagine a better docent. He is so familiar with the Hornet, but also is a real history buff. He actually teared up telling us about some of the historic decisions made in the command center we were standing in. Ask for Tom, get there early, and give yourselves plenty of time.

You’re going to love it!

CJ

Glad you had fun, it's definitely a different experience when you have a good guide. On certain occasions they open up sections of the ship to the public, you can even ride the gimungous elevator from the lower to the runway they use for the planes. I'm still trying to get that rust smell off my clothes lol

Getting a super strong Top Gun vibe off this thought.

Welp, gotta find this Tom guy and ask if he can do the elevator part of the tour for me and my dad.

OK so we are getting down to the wire so firming up plans.
We have a place to stay that is just a short jaunt north of SF so this is the proposed itinerary.
Leave Reno about 8ish on Monday morning.
Arrive in SF in time to have lunch with anybody that wishes. (suggestions please)
Tour the O'Brien.
Meet for dinner and a gathering someplace in the North Bay area. (Suggestions please)

Tuesday morning head down to the Hornet in the morning. Have lunch someplace in the Alameda area. (suggestions please)
Head up to Sacramento and have dinner and meet anybody there. (Again. suggestions please).
Head back to Reno around 9.

So any suggestions where we can meet are greatly welcome. Also may help if we have at least some clue of who may show up.

What city north or SF? And Jacks Urban Eats in Natomas is probably the best bet in Sac area
