Well, sounds like you had a nasty experience.

I've found that most HOAs (after being a home owner in CA (3 houses), CT, MO and WA) to be quite reasonable. Like I mentioned, if the association is active, a review of the meeting minutes will give you a pretty good idea of where they are coming from.

Now, some of them folk up in Idaho, don't like the loud print, feed sack, curtains......

One thing I've noticed, they sure love the 80s-90s look, especially in the kitchens. Even brand new homes scream 1990 cabinet faces. Must be cheap.
