You need two OEM parts and a star screw driver.

Rear view auto dimming mirror Subaru Part H501SVA200.
Mirror mount adapter: H501SSA041

Mirror comes with all parts you need including an adapter to plug it into the existing harness plug in the liner.

Install is simple:

1. Remove the old mirror (Turn to left and pull down
2. Pull the interior light assembly down, as if you were replacing the light bulb.
3. Locate the harness plug a few inches to the right of hole you just created.
4. Add the adapter plate to the existing mirror mount. (Two little bolts). I used some thread-lock on the bolts to ensure they do not come loose.
5. Mount and lock the new mirror to the adapter. (a little hex nut).
6. Push the power cable into the headliner where it meets the windshield. There is plenty of flex in the liner to make room for the plug and cable.
7. Connect one end of the cable adapter to the plug in the liner and the other end to the mirror plug you just put into the liner.
8. Push the supplied cable cover into position above the mirror. This hides the cable you just pushed into the liner.
8. Put the interior light cover back into position
9. Turn the mirror on..

DONE.

P.S. If you intend to use the compass you will set your GPS zone and drive in circles for about five turns, the instructions are included with the mirror.

Took me about 15 minutes and that included me getting tools checking every little detail to ensure I fully understood what was involved.

P.S.S When plugging in cable adapter make sure the power is turned off. The power to the mirror is disabled when turned off so you do not need to worry about blowing fuses etc.
Thanks for the info, I am surprised that the plug for this is in our cars, every other update I have thought of. I was told it wont work or it is a big job. Like the factory driving lights that go in the front bumper. I was told there is no wiring or plugs in the car, and that I would have to run my own wires. I have included a photo of my Mud flap install. They are Toyota parts, and do require a few holes to be drilled.

Got a suspicion that the dealer over-filled my oil so I came in to have them check it. I heard about how they over-fill it on purpose cause supposedly the car is "known to burn oil". Mine is brand new so it's not burning anything. I looked at both sides of the dip stick, checked on 3 separate occasions now, and all 3 times the oil film is an inch above the mark. Usually one side is right at the dot or slightly above it. But this is way over. Let's see what they say

Update: they changed the filter again "no charge", I guess to smooth things over. I checked the oil level in the parking lot and it was good now. Didn't say anything about the oil level so I suspect it was overfilled. Going to my mechanic from now on, no more dealer

Didn't want it make a thread for this question so I'll ask here.

Last night when I got home I apparently forgot to lock my doors cause when I was going to work this morning I noticed that the doors were unlocked without me pressing the button on the key.

Does the FRS not lock the doors after a certain amount if you forget to lock em yourself?

Thanks

First trackday of the year this past weekend. Wife and I had a baby a few months ago, but it was good to finally get out there after about a year off from tracking. Weather was gorgeous too.

Mine does, but I think that's a setting that can be turned off/on.

Oh lol, yeah I think that's what I was talking about. I think it's in the manual somewhere. There might be another setting for what you are looking for. Haven't looked at that section since 2013 lol.

The car only locks itself if you unlock it via the remote and don't pull a door handle between I think 10 seconds and 2 minutes (dealer can adjust the timing for you, and default is 60 secs). Once you pull a door handle the doors will stay unlocked until you physically lock them, hit the lock button on either door, or the lock button on the key. The base car isn't smart enough to lock itself beyond that one situation. If you physically unlock a door with the key, I'm pretty sure the door will stay unlocked.

If you have one of the special editions that has the keyless setup from the BRZ parts bin, I believe the car will lock itself if your key fob goes out of range.

Thanks for the detailed response man !

I'll make sure not to forget locking the doors with the key switch from now on!

There should be driving tests done every 5 or 10 years(every 2-3 is better but nobody would agree to it)for everybody to retain the driving licenses.
It would probably thin the herd a little and keep the roads a little safer.
It wouldn't be targeting any certain group but a few youngins and ol' folks will be better drivers for it if their driving privilege depended on it.
I'd be fine paying for it too and yes I'd be the first one in line with cash in hand to pay for it since I know it would save lives including my family, friends and own.
