I would be shocked if you see a PP car in mid December, as it would already be on the boat and built by now for a mid December delivery which would mean build sheet and VIN would be available.
PP cars will be February in the US, maybe late January on the west coast.

I hope I am wrong and you are driving one in Mid December, that means my wait will be that much shorter.

I hear theyre actually coming into Virginia port, and it sounds (inferring somewhat) like theyre already en route. not having a VIN may be a function of figuring out who gets what at the last minute from delayed and perhaps inadequate order fulfillment. see Focus RS fiasco.

Have you been able to place an official order for your yellow yet? I only have a deposit down on mine, but check in with my dealer every week or two to see if I can.

Yes put deposit down months ago and official order about 2 weeks ago. But I am in NY which is not the same as the rest of the country. Subaru of America is most of the US, whereas New York and parts of NJ, MA etc are part of Subaru distributors corp which has an entirely different order and tracking system.

Dang, looks like I get to go shake down my dealer. So far he's been pretty forthcoming with ordering ability, but as you say with the different systems, he may not yet be able to place the order.

Just a little joke on the fact that everybody was so sure of what the sales guys told them and still not a VIN in sight.

We have been down this road. They are all sales guys. Everybody should have their cars sometime after Christmas. Even if the ship is on it's way there is no group of people frantically running around trying to allocate VIN numbers to orders at the last minute.

Nope. Just been down this road many times before and have done my research beyond "XXX said".

Nobody here has a vin yet.
Subaru has always released the vin for an ordered car 4 to 6 weeks before delivery.
Even if on a ship this minute you are looking at 3 weeks to port.
Once at port they need to be prepped and loaded on rail or truck. They could wait in the pipeline until a load for that destination is complete.
Once at the dealer they will need to be PDRed and made ready.
Then, and only then, you get to pick it up.

This is not something you ordered independently that they are sending to your door by UPS it is part of a shipment of thousands of cars and the logistics of getting it to you mean it takes a while. If even one person said "I have a VIN" I would change my tune in a heartbeat but we still have zero confirmation they are even built yet nuch less on the way here.

As I have said I am not trying to be negative or pessimistic but the corporate level said from the start January delivery for PP.

Time will tell and I say again that if they arrive before that I will grovel for forgiveness. I will n ow bow out and remain silent on the subject until there is official word (Beyond "I talked to somebody") and then will heartily congratulate everybody that gets one. I apologize if I have offended anybody but at least one person has appreciated my comments as a reality check be I right or wrong.

Unless of course, god decides to drop them off into the sea.

That's why I asked if he had a VIN. My son's order shows Jan. 2017 delivery so we should see a VIN soon depending on whether it is early Jan. or the end of the month. Isn't Jacksonville the port for the SE cars? It has been for all the other Japanese cars I've bought in the past.
