it would probably take you about an hour or so to tint your own tail lights. Removing the tails is quite easy and you might learn a thing or two along the way

I have an extra set of OEM tail lights if you don't want to take any chances with yours. I originally picked them up for the same reason, but ended up getting Toms instead. $100

Also, I've noticed people got pretty good results using Dupli-Color Metalcast with a clearcoat finish.

I was going to do mine but it gotten cold, pick a warmer day and paint it, so the paint dry a bit faster. or use a heater in your garage.

I did my own, all red. Took about 2 hours total effort, but spread out over about 30 hours to account for drying time. Quick wet sand, a couple coats of red. Another wet sand, then a couple coats of clear.
