Nice work, I love custom builds! What turbo did you decide on? Any more pics?

Im on a GT30. Yes I got a lot of pics - will sort them and upload them but I need to sort out a few things at my mounting - Im running an internal WG and my compressor housing is a bit "to big" so Im not happy with the position.

I think this might be the sickest build around. Self built systems aren't usually so well thought out.

I'm really happy with how the casting turned out. I will have to machine the gate pads from casting off (big square on the right side) when it comes back out for swaintech ceramic coating. Would like to get some miles on it first though.

Pretty tight and complicated down there.

Started it today!! Got it leak checked and logged some files at idle. So far so good.

Very nice piece. Just curious, who did your casting? Anybody local?

Cosworth, Edelbrock, and Jackson Racing have really good offerings and I don't think I would be disappointed with any of them. BUT.. I just really like turbos. And living in CA and having this crappy 91 it is a huge benefit to me to be able to vary boost levels depending on fuel using a flex fuel setup. This isn't possible with a SC setup.

Awesome build. I love the custom 3D parts and castings.

Just wanted to point out that there has been wastegated/bypassed supercharger systems running boost controllers; they are possible. Obviously a turbocharger system integrates a wastegate out of necessity, so adding a boost controller is easier.

It was Wisconsin Precision Casting. They were really easy to work with.

I've heard of it being done but I've never seen it. Would be interested in seeing it done on this platform though.

I thought for sure that my turbo sat lower than the ptuning setup but after installing the aero shield it appears that is not the case at all. Mine actually sits higher!

Ptuning pic for reference:

I hit the dyno at Mann Engineering on Friday and was having issues building boost. My fault though. I had a 5 psi spring in the wastegate for the initial shakedown and the exhaust pressure would immediately blow it wide open. After all of this custom work and if the only issue I have is too weak of a wastegate spring (read: lack of confidence), I'll take it! Everything else worked perfectly

Oil cooler and radiator worked great as well. From what I hear many turbo cars have trouble with overheating on the dyno. The Velox radiator was doing its job so well I was barely staying at operating temp.

I swapped out the spring for 12 psi yesterday and things are much better. I will still need to head back to the dyno for final tuning and power numbers.

Cutting up the hood latch support for the intercooler plumbing and oil cooler left the hood a little flimsy. Problem solved.

I really hope you either jig the entire kit and sell, sell, sell...

This is by far a peace of art. I can't wait to see the final outcome.

Huge!

Just read through this build and it looks amazing. Really good work.

Could you please talk me through your reasons for wanting twin scroll and also equal length headers for the manifold? I mean asking as I am looking at adding a turbo to my car but would prefer not to high mount the turbo. But being a right hand drive car I can't put it low and near the gearbox like yours. Which leaves 2 options. Low mount to the front with an unequal manifold or get creative and create a spaghetti like manifold to make it equal length.

Any of your input would be greatly appreciated
