Great video but...

Extremely well done video but I wish the host was a little less dull. I know he meant what he said but he lacked any panache or oomph as a host. I really was hoping for some more aggressive driving at the course or at Irohazaka... then again, I may have been spoiled with all the PR stuff Ken Gushi and the like have been doing for Scion/Toyota.

It is really hard to explain what this car means to Toyota, Subaru, and Japan in general. Japan has gotten their asses handed to them in more ways than one over the years. The economy has gone to shit, Korea is beating them at their own game, the population is getting older, and the younger generation does not have the same passion to lead the world in industry. Not to mention the twin disasters of the earthquake and nuke meltdown. This car represents a "get back to basics" effort for the whole country. To prove that they can still built the extremely well engineered cars at an affordable price. Ford can have their powerful mustang, and Korea can have their rough draft sports car, but neither one has as much thought and attention to driving dynamics as the 86. It is classic Japanese motoring.

It's obvious that a script is being read back to us. It's a long clip with apparently substantial production and editing that went into it. The only problem I and, I think, many of us have is we're spoiled by the likes of Chris Harris, Tiff Nedell, and Jeremy Clarkson feeding us witty remarks for the sake of entertainment. But this narrator gives us his personal account for the sake of sharing information. And he does it in average Joe fashion; a bit forced and lacking penache/perfection. I didn't pay anything to see this awesome clip so I can't complain about the guy sharing his story with us. And his style works because it was straightforward and genuine and I was better able to identify with him.

QFT, absolute truth. I want to give "Thanks" to this post so bad but you don't have enough posts for me to do so.

I liked the video and overall thought the host did a good job, he was obviously knowledgeable and passionate about the car and JDM... but come on, couldn't he have swung the back end around through at least ONE of those hairpins!?!?! Watching that mountain pass was painful.

Well I'm not sure, but I don't think the car was his. Even if it were, mountain pass mistakes are a lot more expensive than track mistakes.
