Perrin BRZ Gurney flap
Hiya folks!
Just finished installing a Perrin gurney flap on my DMG 2015 BRZ... First, the finished install looks great and really improves the look of the BRZ spoiler! As of now I don't know how it will effect downforce or drag/mileage... The instructions are very complete and do a good job of getting you through the process. Below are a couple of my caveats to the instructions .... 1) have a extra pair of hands to help... You can do this by yourself by I wouldn't want to do it... 2) this is a big deal..! The middle 5 holes will need to be drilled through two layers of material. The first layer is the finished outer layer, I found the structural layer inside is to shallow to allow the rivnut to sit flush with the outer surface to allow proper tightening so you will need to drill into the support structure inside about an additional 1/8 to 1/4'inch deep too allow the rivnut to fit properly for tightening.... 3) drilling... I have been working with composite, metal and wooden materials for a very long time... If your not comfortable with and don't have the drills and bits necessary, consider farming this out.... For this project I found a 3/8 inch flat wood bit worked very well in place of the HS drill bit suggestions... 4) masking... Don't skimp on this it is very easy to scratch the spoiler or body surfaces during the drilling and installing of the rivnuts. Plus the repeated install and uninstall of the flap... (This is were the extra hands are really helpful.) 5) the rivnuts. After you get past the first tight phase of crimping them into place the tightening will come easier. Once the easy phase is over resist the temptation to over tighten more than needed. There is no torque rating here so you need to do this by feel so as not to distort the rivnut at this point... 6) the last item... The washers have a smooth side and a rough side! During figment and adjusting the flap make sure to use the smooth side of washers against the flap to prevent scratches on the flap during test fittings. You can flip them during the finial install phase for a smoother look! That's it! I will try to post some pics of the finial install tomorrow! Good luck, Ed Last edited by BRZHarley; 07-01-2016 at 06:35 PM. Reason: Photos |

Great Writeup, it's too bad this isn't for more of the cars like the FR-S oem spoiler and that perrin hasn't released any COD statistics

I totally do not like the stock BRZ wing, but this thing makes it look pretty darn good.

I have one, I bought it mostly to complete the look of the spoiler. You are SUPPOSED to drill two holes in the spoiler, but I just used the supplied adhesive and stuck it on. I cut the push pegs so that they fit in the hole, but don't touch the spoiler underneath, and just super glued them in place. Works great, the supplied adhesive is pretty damn strong. So strong that I would think there may be paint damage if you were to try and remove it.
