if i leave my car running ( also have keyless), i manually lock all the doors from the inside and exit. This way the doors can be only unlocked using the mechanical keys in your key fob. The wireless keys will not open the car
Also while manually locking doors from inside, always remind yourself to carry the keys or your fudged and wont be able to get in yourself.

What you are thinking of is the Chirp option not Panic. I'm from a time (early 90's) when Japanese cars imported or domestic didn't come with alarms as standard equipment but as a dealer installed option or aftermarket. The control box goes underneath the driver seat with a bunch of switches and a glass sensor adjustment knob. From what I understood in Japan back then, they didn't really warrant the need of a car alarm due to low crime rate. Shit I even found a pic of my old remote: But always wished I had the cooler 2-way one instead: Last edited by krayzie; 04-22-2016 at 06:42 PM. |

By the way, the red button on the BRZ fob is not labeled "panic" or "security." It just has a horn symbol. (For beeping the horn to find your car.) |

From the manual: Labelled [4] for the "horn" symbol button - Sounds alarm (press and hold) "When the *horn symbol button* is pressed for longer than about one second, an alarm will sound intermittently and the vehicle lights will flash to deter any person from trying to break into or damage your vehicle." I'll let you read the vehicle finder function on page 39 yourself. On the Toyota/Lexus version of this access key, I seem to remember the red button is labelled "security". There is no red button on factory remotes nor central lock button on the passenger side for the longest time I can remember with JDM cars. My JDM STI leather fob cover also does not have a label for the panic button obviously since they won't have it. Last edited by krayzie; 04-22-2016 at 07:03 PM. |

Yeah the red button has the horn symbol on it for theft deterrence. Obviously people misuse it when they are looking for their car in flooded parking lots.
I tend to just keep hitting lock as it makes a less obnoxious honk if for whatever reason I have issues locating my car. Using that button for the purpose of finding your car is almost as retarded as me getting my car jacked at pizza Nova for leaving the car running |

OR he could not leave the car on when he leaves it in public, that's what caused this in the first place OP brought this on himself and as everyone is saying all of it would've been prevented had he not been negligent.

1) Don't leave the car unlocked and running in a public area 2) Invest in lo jack for that time you do it again as it's a passive tracking device for peace of mind: http://www.lojack.com/ It's a one time cost of $695 for the life of the car 3) Make sure the factory alarm is enabled if so equipped: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=11049 The number 2 isn't necessary I highly doubt your car will get stolen if at all ever again
