Anyone have a clear bra put on? How long is that supposed to last for, and how much did you pay for it? I've been using the 3M spray-on one for a couple years, I'm sure its alot cheaper, but I have to peel it off and replace it pretty much yearly.
Also, f*ck searching, I have you guys to bother with my inane questions. |

It looks almost pristine even though the bumper itself looks like it was blasted with a shotgun and the hood after it is gradually becoming Halo. It actually looks sort of silly to have this nice pristine strip across the car. I will probably take it off this year though since the line where it ends is starting to lift a bit and traps wax and dirt. It used to be almost invisible and now stand out pretty bad. I am thinking of getting the bumper and hood repainted later this year and then will do the whole front of the car in the clear.

It is a great car to work on. Most of the jobs are straightforward with decent access. What I do is look at the procedure in the FR-S manual, and if it is too labor intensive or as you say, I don't have the tools and don't want to lay out money for them then I'll have a garage install it. For example, I will likely let a garage do the clutch when it goes because you have to remove the transmission to get to the clutch and it is a long, tedious job to even get to the clutch. I also try to remember that getting to the clutch is only half the job; you also have to put everything back!!

I will take the contrarian view and say that claying the car is worth every bit of the effort! Leaves a great smooth surface that is perfect for polishing, sealing and waxing. (I only do this once in six months or so.)

Yeah. And the more regularly you do it, the easier it is. Claying might take half an hour for me. It's the polishing that takes forever.
