Yep, fer sure.

Reminds me of back-in-the-day in Connecticut, I took my oldest son (about 8 years old at the time) with me to pick up some "free" firewood, in a recently lumbered area, way the hell out in nowhere.

Yep, fired up my 1956 Ford step side pickup truck, threw a chain saw in the back and off we went. After I got it loaded, I was driving out of the logging area and didn't see this one stump.

Bam! I hit it straight on and bent the heck out of the tie rod. The front wheels were almost looking at each other, sort of like this / ----- \

So I whipped the bent tie rod off and was walking down the logging road with my boy in one hand and the bent tie rod in another, when a nice man in an old truck pulled up and just knew what my problem was.

So, he offered me a ride to his place and fired up a torch and beat the rod straight over a piece of RR rail with a sludge hammer. He then took us back to our truck. I put the tie rod back on and eyeball "aligned" the front end and off we went.

Yep, got a whole load of firewood "free" ......

Nope it wasn't snowing and it was only uphill going up the mountain ......

Could be, but instead, it would most lovely be a '15 BRZ Series Blue, with a little more mileage (16000), but cheaper and without a hole in the front bumper, than the FRS.
I gotta find a couple different from level Genesis Coupes to drive.
Thanks!

My dad drove only VWs. Oldest one was a 59 bus that we still used to haul firewood from the woods at the far end of the runway. Dad and I were out running errands in the 61 beetle when the shift linkage broke.

He popped up the back seat, pulled off the access panel, and with a screwdriver, showed me how to work the gear selector from the front of the transaxle. We drove it all the way home without missing a single shift, pulled out the linkage tube, welded it and stuck it back in there all the same day.

I don't have any exciting gearhead stories. Just a lot of repairs and some cool rebuilds of boring cars.

The first Christmas Mrs. Ultra and I had together, she surprised me with that little red Harbor Freight TIG inverter. Can't do aluminum but it works great for just about everything else. I think of my dad every time I pick up a wrench. I still use his old green beat up Craftsman toolbox.

I didn't have a way to measure fuel pressure on the Eclipse because it required a special adapter for the rail. I drilled out the head of the banjo bolt that fits into the top of the fuel filter, welded a half inch section of pipe to it, and threaded that to fit a GM-style test port.

Fuel pressure was fine. Needed a water temp sensor. Damn OBD-I.

Oh wait I guess I just did!
Cool story!

- So... You knew the clutch was bad, bought a spare, and drove around with it in the car for how long?

Yes.
Yes.
About a month.
Thought it would last a bit longer.
I was wrong.

The much longer ride, than the usually dealership around a few blocks, let me feel the affects of a highway ride, about 20 miles. It seems a bit rough for a daily driver. I assume the BRZ is much the same.
I've driven the new WRX on a dealership short test drive.
I guess the Genesis Coupe is next. At least that one has two different suspensions to choose.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just recalled something.....
I couldn't find the dead spot at 4000 RPM.
Did it get fixed by 2015?

Truthfully it's not that bad for a daily. Good on gas, quick and fun and zigs thru regular traffic. I'm pretty comfortable in my 30 minute commute. Only time I don't like it is heavy traffic cus its a six speed. I cruise at 6 gear around 80 little lower. Seriously the car isn't bad for a daily. I drive it three days a week and the wife drives it two. I have to take a break from the clutch/traffic scene

Today, I test drove a '16 Genesis Coupe base 3.8 6mt, '13 Genesis Coupe Ultimate 3.8 6mt w/ 38K mi & '14 BRZ Limited 6mt w/ 4800 mi.

The OOMF of the 3.8 V6 is intoxicating, but so is the much shifter / clutch of the BRZ.

I'M SO CONFUSED!

The BRZ seemed to have a smoother ride than the FRS. Do the different rear struts make that big of a difference of was I experiencing placebo affect?

Does a header and tune actually give the BRZ 40 more HP?
That might be enough.

By my calculations
GC 9.77 hp/pound
BRZ 14 hp/pound
I would think with that big of a difference the GC wouldn't feel much more potent.

Heck no .....if it ain't PnP ...... I won't touch it.

However, if I did get stuck with a devise that didn't support PnP and required a IRQ, I'd contact the manufacturer (if they are still in business) and hopefully they could provide directions on how to assign an IRQ value.

Did you just upgrade to a 96k modem? Took me hours to get mine working.
