One of these with 200rwhp and a nice meaty powerband would be ecstasy. A stock Mitsubishi Evo makes about 200whp and weighs 200kg more than an 86.

Just like nearly any car these days, the tune is where the power is. Especially on a car like this (NA 2.0), you're buying an exhaust for sound, looks, and the biggest upgrade most likely, weight savings. That's not to say you won't get some power out of it, but a good tune on modern cars is where the power is at. And a tune will get the most out of your other mods safely as well (intakes making the car run too lean, CEL, etc).

More than that, usually, unless it's on a hub. And that's Evo 8-10. And don't forget that it's the torque that makes a big impact on "feeling", something the Evo's make pretty well to boot.

Heh my stock 2008 evo (evo x) made about 240 whp and 252 ft-lbs?

edit: by the way, I agree with you. 200 whp is what im shooting for and will turn this car into something even better. I hope its possible without gutting the engine!!

We must not forget about the power under the curve with this car. To many people are getting caught up with what this thing will make "peak" hp wise. My S2K made 203whp bone stock, but was a dog under 5k even compared to my FR-S. With tuning, the F20's F22's were making 20-25 whp between 3500 and 5k rpm, but may only have made around 5-10 peak. 200 whp is most likely doable with this car, but I, like everyone else is excited to see what we can do in the midrange. It sounds like I/E and tuning could help with the torque dip which will in itself make this car more enjoyable to drive.

I really like the S2000 the way it was from the factory (had an AP1), and it made almost 200Rwhp (depending on dyno). So if I could get close to 200rwhp with the FRS with bolt ons (I/H/E) I'd be very pleased.

Everyone should spend a little time on the K20 forums and see what these guys are getting. These guys make 70 Wheel HP over stock like its going out of style. Key to all these mods is going to be tuning.
Hehe, I traded my 08 Si for the FR-S. I will say that I miss the extra power I was able to get from all the bolt-ons and ECU tuning. Unfortunately, I never got to dyno it, but I do believe I was making a good 50whp over stock at the end.

I had the AEM intake, Skunk2 2.5" race header (cat delete), Full Race 3" exhaust, FlashPro tuned by a great guy, Boomba engine mounts, and the NST pulley kit. Man did it feel good hitting VTEC at 4k rpm (and damn did it get LOUD)!

If you mean with just a catback, then yes. If you mean with headers and everything else, i bet its easy 15WHP. If add ECU tuning to this, I think we will get close to 30 WHP.

This may also be a similar case with the FA20, especially with a restrictive pre-cat and collector before the overpipe. So far i have no personally seen aftermarket header work yet...(not until the end of the month) so im sure Perrin or someone similar will get one working soon.

One big issue that we are encountering is the ECU factory tuning not being kind and compatible to the larger aftermarket exhaust. With its continuous adjustments limiting the power.

Im predicting a 11-14whp gain and 7-9tq gain and a much smoother and direct powerband on Equal Length Headers, and a straight through 2.5-2.75 exhaust.
With no tune, maybe.

I'll be making 200whp on E-85 as a mile stone before I add turbo. shan't be too hard.

If you're gonna run E85 might as well shoot for a loftier goal I'd think...I'm willing to bet premium octane will eclipse the 200whp mark.

hmm. After a week of driving around with my axleback and downpipe, we re-dyno'd the car and it made significantly more power. I think we've got some ECU learning going on... baseline, it put down 159whp, with downpipe/axleback it did 163, and after 2 weeks of driving, it put down 170. That seems to me like, with a header and intake, maybe we'll get close to the 180-190 range? that'd sure be epic. Dyno plot is on the nameless performance facebook page.

for reference, after we baselined at 159 and put on the downpipe/axleback/intake combo it only got 7 more whp after the ECU was done with it's adjustments down. Took the intake off, and I ran the car with stock intake but aftermarket axleback and downpipe for 2 weeks. 11whp gain. hmm. in some places on the graph, up to 19whp gain (but not peak)

Hmm, that run was a mistake it looks like- 170whp, not 179. But the above is still true, we are seeing power levels go up after some time with the parts on the car.

Yeah I can feel a power difference over stock, but... I wonder how slowly the power adjusted up on me. There wasn't a noticeable moment where all the sudden pulls felt 7whp faster.

Love internet tuners that know everything.

200hp N/A out of a high compression motor will happen....

^seriously. IDK why everyone is being so pessimistic. Do they not know we are dealing with a dohc direct injection 12.5:1 motor here? Obviously its got some bottle neck. I think with a redesigned header and full exhaust, an intake, and some tuning we'll see 200whp. Just goes up from there. Throw cams at it, etc

I know its a lot larger motor but the gains that can be made in my R32 N/A are very impressive. With a Header back exhaust, Intake, Cams and tune people are making 260awhp, thats 60whp over stock. Without even touching the header or throttle body or intake mani.

From what I'm seeing we will see gains once we touch the TB and IM
