Official - Porsche 911 GT3 to come in manual!

The next GT3 will be offered with the six-speed manual gearbox used in the 911 R as an option, Preuninger told British magazine Autocar. The hardcore version of the 911 will continue using a naturally aspirated engine “for the foreseeable future”.

Now that's what I'm talking about

I just noticed the 911R, which is basically a 991 version GT3RS 4.0. Bet those are dropping in price haha.

I do wonder where they're going with the next GT3 though, the 991 GT3 is completely maxed out in terms of power if they're sticking to NA. Wild guess, they'll widen the powerband at the top by making both cams bigger, then add a very racey mild hybrid system to give it some extra kick, maybe power the front wheels too.

The 997 GT3 RS 4.0 from a price standpoint will never go anywhere but up. The 991's are still too big and 997's and 996's in general will be going up in price because as I believe and a high percentage of 911 enthusiasts believe they are the last generations of true 911's. There's a reason why the 997 GT3 RS is now a $250,000 car.

Every generation of Porsche enthusiast says the last generation was the last true 911.

First you had the air cooled guys. Then there was the 996 headlight debacle. Then you had the 997 not being enough of a change from the 996. Then you had the 991 being too big.

True that, but I think we can all agree that if they go electric, that will be the day the 911 truly dies.

Haha, first of all, the 991 GT3 RS has a 4.0 liter flat six. So yeah, basically a 991 version of the 997 GT3 RS. To think otherwise is foolish.

Lightly used 991 GT3 RSs are currently selling for just under $400k. Last week I saw one for sale on Long Island with 16 original miles, listed for $389,000.

The price inflation that the GT3 cars get is utterly ridiculous...

I mean I know the clout of the whole "but it's a GT3" thing, but 400k?... for christ sake thats 488 GTB or McLaren 650s LT price range, and a 911 GT3 is not even in the same solar system as those two when it comes to pure raw performance

Not sure if your first comment was directed at me since I said nothing to do with that statement. The price doesn't surprise me because since the 911's 50th anniversary anything to do with 911's has be going up in price.

^I dunno? Part of my statement was, but not the other part lol. But basically it's "not a big deal" to see 997 GT3 RS 4.0's at $250k if the newer ones are going for over $350k. Ergo, people aren't placing a higher value on the 997 special editions. Not saying I agree with that thought, just pointing it out.

There's a $50k+ difference between a GT3 and a GT3 RS. Either way I agree. Hell, if I want a $400k 911 I'm calling up Singer
