Unplug connector and close circuit by using bent paper clip. Cover everything up with electrical tape and you are done. Button is still in place, looks OEM, but doesn't do anything.

It would look something like this:

Best idea. Gonna try this. Didnt want to cut the harness and splice the wires together in case i want to hook it back.

Lol, do you guys know there is a key hole to open the trunk right above the license plate? No reason to go crawling through your trunk lol
