New FR-S Blog
Hi All-
I don't know many of you. I have a FR-S that will be here at the end of the month. I just started a blog that will detail the build of the car. My last race car was a carbon fiber bodied time attack miata that I campaigned nationally. I also wrote a series of articles about the build of the car for Sport Compact Car Magazine. I really enjoyed learning about the chassis and sharing the data with others. My goal for this blog and for my FR-s will be to discover what works, and what doesn't. There are a lot of manufactures that are building parts, and only some of them will really improve the way the car moves around a race track. I hope this blog is fun for me, and informative for others. As my car doesn't arrive until end of the month, this blog entry isn't intensely focused on the car as much as it has been the road I've traveled automotively to get to it. if you have a minute, check it out. http://fecompetition.wordpress.com/ Best, Matt Andrews |

Awesome, will be following this. Matt has quite successfully campaigned a few cars in the past. This should be good.

You owned that Miata??! I LOVED that car! I used to follow it in SCC; I always wanted to see the completed product! What was the final power output and weight of the car?

thanks! car ended up being about 2100 full of fluids. big turbos, cooling systems, cages, etc were really heavy. It really was a blast to own. I ended up selling it to fund a move back to california from texas. But now its time for something new.
As far as power, it could run all day long at 250 hp on like 7psi. But if you closed the wastegate, it made a little over 400hp at 24 psi. I liked the smaller turbo for response. If I had put something bigger on it, it would have made more. It was just way outside of its efficiency range at that much boost. Here is a quick little lap at AAA speedway in Fontana, CA.
