The multiplayer gets sort of 1 dimensional at times, esp if you've played every game. Halo Guardians will be fast paced so +1 in that aspect. And yes, Destiny is a grind game for sure, but the RPG aspect of it keeps you entertained and I hope with year two that will be even more apparent. I could see myself playing Halo 5, but never owning it.

Halo has actually made great strides in terms of updating their storytelling. In 4 the introduction of Spartan Ops basically gave us the story within a story. They tried to show us what was going on outside of the spotlight of Master Chief. Not to mention they did a great job implementing co-op campaign this way. 343 is taking what they learned from that and implementing it further into Halo 5's gameplay. 4 was the start of a new trilogy and story arch, so I'm hoping 5 lives up to the hype. To me Reach was still the best one in terms of multiplayer and campaign content.

I hold off my comparisons until Halo 5 comes out, especially since I never played the Halo series until the release of the MCC. I know many people are upset with Bungie and I'll agree that I feel year 1 players kind of got left holding the bag, especially when it comes to the money spent. A couple of thoughts on this though.

First, you have to pay to play. I think anyone who plays new release games these days is expecting to pay a premium. That just seems to be the nature of the beast. Games don't seem to go on sale until they've been out for quite some time, unless they do really poor. Also, Destiny has always been a "10 year plan" so I think many had false expectations as to what this meant? Personally, I like the fact that game seems to be evolving into a better product. There's no doubt that VD was poorly launched and compounded with the first expansion.

As far as 343 goes, I could make the same charge that MokSpeed is making about Bungie. I really wanted to play through the MCC and I dropped the $60 when it came out. However, it was such a disaster at launch, especially the multiplayer, that I quit playing after a couple of days and went back to Destiny. I never came back because it literally took months for them to get their act together and fix the game. Even now, I don't think it's completely fixed. JDobbins on YouTube did some great videos on YouTube about 343 and the MCC.

Maybe 343 will redeem themselves and maybe Halo 5 will be great. I am planning on getting it just so I can see how it stacks up to Destiny. However, what is the long term plan for Halo? I know Destiny will continue to evolve and be around for another 8-9 years (assuming the product continues to sell) but I'm unsure Halo will do the same thing? It's ironic cause I was just thinking about this this morning. I think traditional console players expect a game to come out and then wait 2 more years for the next in the series. With Destiny, it seems like they are at least trying to bring out new content every 4 months. Certainly it means more money, but it also means more longevity/continuity?

Ended up leaving the system on the low power mode over night to finish downloading. Excited to actually get to play later tonight!
